(hx) 04:58 PM CEST - Sep,16 2005
  • CNN Calculates The Cost of Xbox 360 Gaming: $1,710 - CNN is predicting that it's going to cost $1,710 to experience 'next-gen' gaming with the Xbox 360. Here's how they figure: - $399: Xbox 360 Console (CNN says that this next generation is likely to come in at $100 more than previous generation-consoles); - $59.99: a single, top-shelf game (Publishers have been quoted as saying that their best titles are likely to cost $5 to $10 more than current-generation blockbuster titles); - $1000: a HD capable television; - $250: surround sound system...[cough] I can't believe they didn't add the cost of Xbox Live for a year to that!..Oh, and they forgot $1500 for the couch, $500,000 for the house to put it in ;)
  • Australia, Hong Kong, Mexico, Will Not See 360 Launch Until Sometime In 2006  - Apparently, December is not the latest date for Xbox360 to launch regionally. The Xbox 360 will launch sometime during the 2006 calendar year for all the patient gamers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, and Colombia.

  • Crossfire does 1600x1200@60 or 1920x1200@52 - It turns out that you cannot set higher refresh rate than 1600x1200 at 60Hz - we were right about that. However, you will be able to use 1920x1200 but you will be limited to 52Hz only. Bothc cases are fine for all TFT users as 60Hz on those displays by some miracle looks very good. This still will be insuficcient for millions of people who want to own Crossfire and have a good old but big and great CRT display.
  • Are Intel's Integrated Graphics Processors Good Enough for Gaming? - Intel claims its integrated graphics processors are now good enough to play your favorite 3D games. With the launch of Intel's GMA950, are Intel's boasts based on reality - or simply the stuff of marketing pipe dreams?
  • Palm Tungsten X Coming Soon - The features are pretty sexy, although makes me a little sad that this handheld is better than the brand new computer I bought back in 2000. It'll feature a 312Mhz XScale CPU, 128MB on-board memory, 802.11b WiFi, Bluetooth 1.2, plus SDIO for expansion, and add-ons like GPS. Bluetooth 2.0 would have been nice, but it's a pretty bangin' PDA for the price ($299).
  • New Samsung BlueRay burner - Samsung presents their latest HD BlueRay and 400GB HDD combo, this time with a Wireless G connection for use with a PC or a home network.
  • Fuel Cell Powered MP3 player - Toshiba presented 2 MP3 players (one HDD and one Flash) powered by Fuel Cells at CEATEC. The battery life for the flash player will be 35 hours with only 3.5ml (100mW) and 60 hours with 10ml (300mW for the HDD model. According to the manufacturer, this type of product will be on sale in 2007.
  • Maru the Robot - This is a nifty robot named Maru that comes from the far-off land of of Korea. This bugger can currently deliver beverages and apparently uses the Internet hive-mind to process visual and audio stimuli, thereby offloading most of the heavy processing out of the robot and into a wireless network.
  • Samsung & KTF like colours - KTF, the Korean phone operator, presents a whole new and colourful range of phones with a slider mechanism. This model has a 1.3MP camera, 150Mb of memory and it's MS Office, PDF and Jpeg compatible. Its name? SPH-S3900/SPH-S3950.
  • Wedge Considering a Robots Sequel  - The Sydney Morning Herald talked to Robots co-director and co-founder of Blue Sky Studios Chris Wedge, who is considering making a sequel to the animated hit.

oooooo... ATi is about to get butthacked for that refresh rate thingy. 52Hertz ? Does such a frequency exist at all? :P First a delay, then 8 pipes less than 7800(although ATi's pipes work at a higher CLK than nV's), now a refresh rate weakness, and let's not forget the constant driver mockups..
