Dark Mesiah of Might & Magic Details - briefly
(hx) 07:19 PM CEST - Aug,17 2005
Ubisoft announced today further details about Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, the "first-person action game" being developed by Arkane Studios, makers of Arx Fatalis, and based on an enhanced version of Valve's Source engine.
In Dark Messiah, players will take the role of Sareth, who has been trained in magic and melee to eventually fight the titular character and save the land from his grubby clutches. In addition to fighter and spellcaster classes, players can also choose to be an assassin, and they'll unlock skills and equipment through combat.

According to Ubisoft, gameplay takes place across twelve levels and involves over forty weapons, and contains a "deep and engaging fantasy storyline," with hints of plot twists and various surprises along the way. Doug McKee, Ubisoft VP of Marketing, boasts, "Dark Messiah of Might & Magic brings a new genre to gaming. Never before has the world seen a first-person action game set in a fantasy universe as compelling as the Might & Magic world. Not only will fans of the Might & Magic franchise be amazed by the direction we have gone with the game, but fans of the action genre will be blown away by the power of the Source Engine from Valve used in such an incredible and fantastical setting. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic will become the master of both worlds."

Ubisoft also tells us that Dark Messiah will include a fully realized, class-based multiplayer mode for up to 32 players, from deathmatch to an intriguing "Evolution" mode in which the player will gain experience and new equipment across dynamic online campaigns
