 Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Update - preview

Gamecloud has posted some new info on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, the upcoming Doom 3 engine powered sci-fi shooter from Activision and Splash Damage (Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory makers):
So how will Enemy Territory: Quake Wars differ from other games that may have some similar features on the surface. Wedgwood said one big difference is the fact that's its a Quake game with an established universe. Another is the Mega-texture techology that will allow large terrain areas with id's Doom III engine. However, we were most interested in the asymetrical gameplay features that Quake Wars plans to have. The Earth forces have weapons and items that will be more conventional (tanks, rifles) while the Strogg have more sci-fi type weapons. However, asymetrical in this case doesn't mean unbalanced. One example from Wedgewood is the Strogg Goliath, the huge walker like vehicle that was seen in the first trailer to the game. The Goliath is a huge and powerful weapons platform but according to Wedgewood "You can't turn on a dime in a walker' which may give the smaller and less powerful Human tank an edge as it can turn much more quickly in a firefight.
