  • Microsoft mulling HD-DVD in future Xbox 360 revisions - "The initial shipments of Xbox 360 will be based on today's DVD format," Gates confirmed at the time, speaking at a conference co-hosted with HD-DVD creator Toshiba in Tokyo. "We are looking at whether future versions of Xbox 360 will incorporate an additional capacity of an HD-DVD player or something else," he continued.

  • Square Enix Party unveils fresh information on key titles - Final Fantasy VII's spin-off title, Dirge of Cerebus was declared to be playable over the internet via Square Enix's own Japanese PlayOnline service. The single-player PS2 game will focus on FFVII character, Vincent, with the online mode allowing control of a solider from the game's main antagonists, the Deep Ground organisation. Finally, Square Enix revealed more information about its recent foray into Mana series (known as Seiken Densetsu franchise in Japan), World of Mana.
  • PS3 Final Fantasy VII Tech Demo more than a demo? - We will see. Square Enix's initial response to Gamespot inquiry about whether or not the tech demo is suggestive of a full game being in the works fell in the realm of carefully worded corporate response. The reps noted that, as was mentioned at E3, the demo was created to show just how power of the PlayStation 3 technology. As a result, it is a tech demo only and is not intended to indicate that a PS3 remake of FFVII is presently under active development at the company. However, when pressed, the reps also noted that further plans for content based on FFVII haven't been set, per se....Heck, they could re-use the models from the cutscenes in Final Fantasy Anthology or something :)
  • Fantasy XII on Japan March 16, 2006 (Japan) - Square Enix has announced the Japanese release date of FINAL FANTASY XII for the PS2. The long-awaited RPG will ship to retailers in Japan on March 16, 2006. The North American version is scheduled for release later in 2006.

PREVIEWS

  • EyeToy: Play 2 [PS2] - The first EyeToy title seemed to focus solely on using your hands or arms to play most of the mini-games. From what we've seen, its sequel appears to focus upon using your entire body more to succeed in these mini-games. We took a look at four of the newer games: Table Tennis, Baseball, Monkey Bars and Mr. Chef.
  • King Kong preview [multi]) - 1up has posted a preview of the PS2 version of King Kong from the G-Phoria awards show.
  • Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure [PS2/Xbox] - As far as Marc Ecko's Getting Up goes, at the moment it's a bog standard, uninspiring hip-hop action game. For those who will be into it, it won't be as good as GTA, but it will suffice for a weekend. If you're looking for the next Jet Set Radio, you'll be disappointed too.
  • Marvel Legends: Rise Of The Imperfects Interview [multi] - Gamecloud has posted an interview with EA Canada producer Dan Ayoub talking about Rise of the Imperfects, the upcoming fighting game for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube and PSP.
  • Nintendogs preview [NDS] - The aim of the game is to take care of your puppy by training it, feeding it, and generally pampering it. You can get it toys, like a frisbee, a tug-of-war rope, and squeaky toys. Each play item is actually associated with a mini-game using the touch screen, so with the frisbee, you'll drag it along the screen and release to send it flying. You can even get another dog to hold one end of skipping rope and you swing the other.
  • Ultimate Spider-Man game Q&A [multi] - Gamecloud has posted a Q&A with Treyarch producer Jonathan Zamkoff to find out more about their plans for the Ultimate Spider-Man game.
