Morning Reading - briefly|
| (hx) 10:31 AM CEST - Jul,25 2005 | I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm curious what you guys think of the name "Windows Vista"? It completely sounds like they were stuck for a name, and decided on this one as the one that they hated the least. Personally, I don't like the name "Windows Vista", but it will grow on us sooner or later. Anyway, I don't care that much for the name .. just give us stability and security and call it "Windows Poo" if you like :P
Here's some stuff:

I guess the same thing will happen with Windows Vista.
| Badmagic | (02:06 PM CEST - Jul,25 2005 ) | | We have all been calling it Longhorn for ages, they should have just stuck with that as in my opinion Win Longhorn sounds much better than Win Vista but that’s maybe just me. | |

| Sabot | (05:05 PM CEST - Jul,25 2005 ) | Hell you just need to look at the names of processors to see how whacky it get's; Prescot,Barton etc.
'Longhorn' was a good name, 'Vistas' is dictionary defined as; "A distant view or prospect, especially one seen through an opening, as between rows of buildings or trees.
An avenue or other passage affording such a view."
Now THAT is weird how they thought up that! Where is the connection?
| xxxx | (05:57 PM CEST - Jul,25 2005 ) | The definition I see, which is actually a pretty cool one is
a view, especially a splendid view from a high position
So virtually no matter how you look at it, either near or far it still looks damn nice.
Considering Longhorn will have new interfaces etc, the are going for a name to push their new look. That's my take on it, pretty sad this imposter Bill Gates couldn't think of anything original then some poor jokes that I find hard for anyone to even chuckle at.
| El_Coyote | (08:19 PM CEST - Jul,25 2005 ) | appropriate...
Hasta la Vista, Windows... :P
| xxxx | (02:42 PM CEST - Jul,26 2005 ) | | Hahahaha, ya or that! I thought there was a like a not-used much definition of Vistas and that meant 'different styles, different things'. so perhaps we will see instead of BSOD we'll see Red Screen of Death! I'm not going to no 64bit buggy POS windows, lol, gonna wait for everyone to beta test it for me! | |
| (04:50 PM CEST - Jul,26 2005 ) | Vista also stands for VISTA as in Volunteers in Service to America :)

100% agree! In my opinion, there is no reason to run out and buy a 64-bit system - yet. I'm convinced that being conservative is sometimes the most cutting-edge thing you can do.
| tub0rg | (09:31 PM CEST - Jul,26 2005 ) | well i dont see a point in buying an intel cpu these days
the amd 64 are running cooler faster with less power consumption then the intels. my cpu is running below 40 degree celsius with an 2200 rpm silent air fan and would beat an intel with 3,4 ghz, at least in game bench marks in an 32 bit enviorment.
then you get a nice suse linux 64 bit wich runs perfectly stable and extremly fast for anything u can do without win.
the newer cores are extremly overclockable too.
