Trash Interview - interview|
| (hx) 05:45 PM CEST - Jul,12 2005 |
Gamecloud
has posted an interview with Inhuman Games' co-founder Mark Currie talking
about
Trash, their upcoming 3D RTS based in a post-apocalyptic future. You can try
out this open
beta, the full, paid, version of Trash is expected to be released via the
Internet soon. Here's a slice:
Gamecloud - What will the missions be like in the full game?
Mark: All maps are randomly generated, so the first thing you want to do is explore the map and find the areas of strategic importance. Defenses in Trash are very strong. Since Trash support ups to twenty-four players in a game, there is a larger risk of someone getting eliminated early, because with more players it’s easier to gang up on one person. To help counter this, we decided to make defenses very strong. Defenses in Trash can’t be built just anywhere though. You have to build them on special trash sites. You'll want to choose where you place your defenses in order to maximize the amount of land your team will control. You have to create supply lines to your defensives in order for them to work. If you get greedy and try to take too much land too quickly, your supply lines will likely be exposed and your defenses will be vulnerable.
Due to our limited development resources, we made a strategic decision to focus on the multiplayer aspect of the game. The single player game is currently limited to skirmishes against AI-controlled bots. We have a number of interesting ideas for single player missions, but those will have to wait.
