Battlefield Patch Causes Server Issues - briefly
(hx) 09:23 PM CEST - Jul,07 2005
The latest Battlefield 2 patch that was released yesterday seems to have caused some problems on the server side:
Server admins are reporting that the game now has huge memory leaks. The exact figures vary but some Windows servers are reported to lose 500 MB of memory after running a server for 2-3 hours meaning that they could be crashing fast. A standard BF2 dedicated server usually takes up 150 to 170 MB of RAM. Although we don't have any exact figures, the Linux servers don't seem to lose huge amounts of memory, but they are affected, too.

Typical EA testing eh? Memory leak has been there since the demo, imo,.. god doesn't anyone use Process Explorer these days?!?! Jeeeezzz.. Ah well, my wife has taken my BF2 DVD hostage anyhow.. maybe I'll wait for patch 4 like BF1942 for EA to get it mostly right...BF2 is a great game, but it's far from polished... far!
