 War World Interview - interview
(hx) 10:49 AM CEST - Jul,06 2005
Gamecloud has conducted an interview with Third Wave's Johnni Christensen and Morten Brodersen as they talk about War World, their soon-to-be-released  mech action game. War World should be available later this month. Here's a bit:
Gamecloud - Why do you believe this game will stand out from the many other mech action game that have been previously released?

Johnni Christensen - War World is a truly unique game experience. It is a lot more like the arcade game Virtual On than traditional slow-paced PC mech games. The difference is that where Virtual On let's you choose between 8 fixed mech types, in War World you have a huge number of weapons, shields etc. to customize your mech with. The power of the weapons and the tactical ways you can use them are also unique. It completely changes the game play experience. It is probably also worth mentioning that the control system is 1st person shooter style so you don't need a manual to play the game.

Morten Brodersen - The multi-player game is something you truly can't play anywhere else. You are moving very fast and have access to up to 4 powerful weapons that can all be fired at the same time plus shields plus thrusters for fast movement. It gives you a multi-player experience that is very powerful indeed. Traditional 1st person shooters seem a bit underpowered after you have played War World (laughs).

Gamecloud - Why is War World primarily a multiplayer action game rather than concentrate on single player?

Johnni Christensen - We don't think of War World as primarily a multiplayer game. War World has three different game modes: Single-player with 100 levels, Single-player Custom and Multi-player. These three options give you three very different game experiences and are all important to us. But Morten and I both love playing multiplayer games, so I guess we end up talking more about the multi-player game than the other games.
