Update: EliteBastards take a look at the recently released multi-player beta version:
What we have on offer here is a benchmark and multiplayer demo of one of the most hyped next-generation FPS games. There are no vehicles, no innovative game modes, just a very well done close-quarters deathmatch or last-man-standing blast. While nothing can be said about single player part of the game, this definitely went on my list of games to buy in the future based on the multiplayer experience. The game offers an interesting world, solid weapons and very acceptable network code on my 512kbps DSL connection. Compared to some other recently released multiplayer demos *cough* Battlefield 2 *cough* it is also nice to see a very well implemented in-game server browser.

graphics look good, but not THAT amazing...can't see a reason to get this game...NOLF were good games and where did they go??

I fear Vivendi has got it ass-backwards. I'm not going to pay for the privilege of beta testing.

Get your fucking game bug-free, package up a beta that's really fun, and *then* we'll talk, corporate scum. :-)

XXXX, did you actually play the game or did you only see some trailers? I bet you only watched a few trailers. You can't see all the detail of the models and that sort of things in a trailer, it lacks the resolution. FEAR's graphics will be great and absolutely stunning, I'm pretty much confident in that.
Still, I miss NOLF a lot :( I loved it so much! I guess the next game they'll make will be NOLF3, so nothing to worry really.

graphics look ok, but no better than anything else I've seen or played. Yes, I'm talking from movies. I'll wait to see how FEAR does in stores before I lay down cash, including of course the community of online play. Remember NOLF there was no online community, I don't know if it has improved over the time I last checked, but 7 or 6 servers is what I remember of the NOLF online community.

For me in particular the value of the game comprises mostly from singleplayer experience. So if the online community of NOLF would evaporate I wouldn't be too worried :) I love NOLF for the singleplayer gameplay, style, humour and level-design. Oh yeah, the voiceovers to!!!
As for FEAR, it doesn't seem to be more spectacular than anything coming out in near future only on first sight. It will look great!!! One thing you could notice in a trailer is the animations quality.

Yes the NOLF series was great fun.. but if nobody else thinks so too, then the game dies after single player. I tried to play NOLF 1 and 2 online and I was always running a server and there was hardly anyone coming. FEAR doesn't impress me as much as when I first saw it...It just look like 'another' shooter. On the otherhand I got PARIAH and holy crap that game changed my opinion on it. I got graphics cranked to limit and it is soooooo smooth. The game itself isn't that bad.. not like FarCry :p where even on hard AI they just stand there with their partner getting offed with a sniper shot to the head! PARIAH isn't amazing but I guess since it's on the amazing UT engine which ceases to amaze me, it's nice when there is a huge amount of action and the game doesn't even stutter 1 bit! If you can get PARIAH 'somehow' get it.. It's worth playing.. FEAR, I'll keep my eyes out in IRC for that one...
