E3: Prey impressions - preview|
| (hx) 08:33 AM CEST - May,19 2005 |
Both
GameSpot and PC.IGN
have posted their E3 impressions of
Prey, the upcoming first person shooter from 3D Realms. Here's an excerpt:
GameSpot: Cut to gameplay. Initially Prey looks like any other
sci-fi-themed first-person shooter, though we noticed the crazy-looking
biomechanical rifle right away. Turns out pretty much all the weapons in Prey
have this sort of look and feel, kind of like the bizarre bone-gun in the cult
movie Existenz. One of the "guns" was particularly amusing--a creepy, glowing
spiderlike bug that twitched nervously, and whose limbs could be ripped off and
used as explosives.
PC.IGN: The demo was really just full of moments that made me say "wow"
like Tommy jumping into a small flying vehicle only to dogfight and the race
towards what looked like a small moon only to realize that there were enemies
running on the surface. When the craft landed and Tommy jumped out and started
firing glass canisters of gook at them, it got even better. Or the weapons like
the grenade creature with a leg for a pin or the grenade launcher version with
that same creature wriggling around inside a glass ball that's fired at high
speed.
