War World interview - interview|
| (hx) 09:53 AM CEST - Apr,25 2005 |
Computer
Games Magazine has posted
an
interview with Morten Brodersen and Johnni Christensen of Third Wave Games
as they talk about War World,
their upcoming downloadable mech action game. Here's a taster:
Computer Games - What makes this game stand out from the many other
mech action games that have been released in the past?
Johnni Christensen - War World feels quite different from most old school
mech games. Where a lot of mech games are very slow, War World is extremely
fast, with seriously fast gameplay. It's also easier to get into than a lot of
mech games, but challenging to master. It uses a 1st person shooters style
control system making it easy for everybody to pickup and play the game without
having to think twice about how it works.
Morten Brodersen - The multi-player game is a completely new experience.
The first time Johnni and I played War World online with access to all weapon
systems we were screaming and shouting, felling such a rush controlling all that
firepower in a multi-player game. Now going back to old school 1st person
shooters feels kinda funny because you only have one weapon and it isn't that
powerful. Even a traditional grenade launcher or whatever doesn't even come
close to matching a fully armed mech loaded with a fast shooting grenade
launcher, a target seeking missile launcher, 2 huge miniguns and ALL of them
shooting at the same time while the mech is moving like lightning. I would love
to enter a Counter Strike game with a fully loaded War World mech. Imagine the
face of a Counter Strike player as he runs around a corner and come face to face
with a fully armed War World mech :)
