RoboHordes Interview - interview|
| (hx) 10:11 AM CET - Mar,22 2005 |
Computer
Games Magazine has posted
an
interview with Tian Mu of Naked Sky Entertainment talking about
RoboHordes, the first
playable Unreal Engine 3 based title that was shown at the Game Developers
Conference. Here's a slice:
Computer Games - How did it feel to have the first working Unreal Engine
3 based game on display for people to see and play?
Tian Mu - It made us feel proud, but watching people enjoy it felt more
satisfying. We're definitely excited about our next iteration.
One thing I would like to add, though, is that people are expecting great things
from UE3, but when you deliver a fast-paced arcade style game like RoboHordes,
with hundreds of dynamically shadowed, moving objects, on an engine that is
still in development, it's nearly impossible to get all those features in and
keep up a realistic framerate. UE3 is an amazing piece of tech, light years
ahead of UE2. We're eager to see what kind of performance we can squeeze out as
both the engine and our game continue to mature.
