S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Interview - briefly|
| (hx) 10:14 AM CET - Mar,19 2005 | The fan site
Oblivion-Lost.com informed us they have posted
a translation of a new interview with Anton Bolshakov from GSC Game World,
discussing the current state of development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of
Chernobyl, the release, publishing of DirectX 9 screenshots and movies, the beta
test and more. Here's a bit:
cpcat: How much do you feel is left until the project's completion?
{GSC}Anton: We are counting months now, not years. Most of the game is
now undergoing the publisher's approval. In other words, the game is being
judged by the publisher and tuned in those areas the publisher feels need more
work. In regards to advertising. An active advertising campaign is not
compatible with delays. This leads to overexcitement of the fans and huge
disappointment when another delay is announced, which makes sence. This is why
we are trying to not get people too worked up, and to to work more. When we set
a precise release date, a full-blown advertising campaign will begin.

But come on, people complained HL2 was late for a year, while the first estimated release date for Stalker was spring 2003 and it is obvious it won't be out till Christmas this year. I understand the project becomes more and more complex and a lot of hard work is involved and the dev team is rather small for such a project... ok, I forgive them. But it seems to me if HL2 would have come out on time it would look like a revolution, the same with Stalker: it's no longer THAT amazing. When I saw screenies more than two years ago, man was I in shock. I was thinking: "Is that possible? A photo, not in-game. Hell it is in-game!!!" Now it's just on par with some games, and I'm talking not only about graph technology... | |
