Unreal 3 Engine Screenshots - briefly|
| (hx) 08:10 PM CET - Mar,18 2005 |
Interactive Data Visualization (IDV) has announced that
SpeedTreeRT,
its hardware independent foliage solution, has been integrated with Epic Games'
Unreal Engine 3. (thanks
OnlyNewz)
SpeedTree is fully integrated into Epic's Unreal engine including both the editor and the rendering engine. We provide a wrapper class that plugs directly into NDL's Gamebryo. Because SpeedTree is a numerical engine, there's nothing to prevent it from working with any given 3D engine. Our customers have successfully integrated SpeedTree into more than twenty different rendering systems including commercial game engines, scenegraph APIs, and in-house engines. We are constantly adding direct support for new engines so please contact us for more information. If you want to see how SpeedTree would work with your engine, please sign up for a free evaluation. RenderWare integration is coming soon, as well as a Maya-based world builder.

I've been waiting sooooo long to see REAL leaves instead of crappy random textures!
| Nosferatu | (01:30 PM CET - Mar,19 2005 ) | | Yeah, me too. The first game that left me in awe with my chin on the ground was FarCry. This was almost a real world, nothing was even near at the time. Games really become better! No degradation, if you ask me. | |
| yhancik | (04:51 PM CET - Mar,19 2005 ) | | I'm not sure games really become better.. but.. uhm.. they will surely have nicer trees in the future... yeah | |
| Nosferatu | (03:18 PM CET - Mar,20 2005 ) | Better graphics-->more realistic worlds-->deeper immersion-->better games
And then if you mention gameplay, it is better and better in the long perspective. Games become less linear. Those that are linear give more things to gaze at. I see only improvements and I will never believe that the game industry (PC or console) will ever die.
