And I think the next day, after running through its cheap bag of tricks, and growing tired of it and thinking, Shit, I waited years for this? ...that moment is when my childhood officially ended. Too bad! I've been playing id's games since the start, but what made these things special 10 years ago is now buried under endless repetition and imitation. So, Doom III expansion pack? Nope: you couldn't pay me even to install it. Maybe something like STALKER can come along and reinvent the genre. It's probably the last chance I'll give FPS gaming. |
