Act Of War: Direct Action Impressions - preview|

HomeLAN
has posted its impressions of
Act Of War: Direct
Action, the upcoming near future military RTS game from Eugen Systems and
Atari. Here's a slice:
Perhaps the biggest element in the game that deviates from the RTS norm is in gathering resources. At first there may be a point in the map where you can build an oil rig to gain resource points for use in building and upgrading units and structures, but these oil points are depleted after a period of time. After that you gain resource points via human lives. You read that right. Your units can capture other enemy units and capture and hold the human units in prisons of hospitals. Those captured units generate resource points. It's an interesting and different way to play an RTS game; don't kill everyone on the field. If you do you lose valuable resources.
