The early missions that you have to accomplish in the game are rather simple; take out a wolf den, protect a cemetery, find a wayward hunter..that sort of thing. Other missions have more and deadlier monsters and tasks to accomplish. You can recruit troops in various towns in the land to help you with the missions via purchasing them and when you successfully accomplish these missions you are rewarded which allows you to gain skills (needed to control more unit) upgrade your existing units and more.
