War Dogs Interview - interview|
| (hx) 10:58 AM CEST - Oct,18 2004 |
HomeLAN
has conducted
an
interview with William Fisher and David Paris of Quicksilver as they talk
about War Dogs, the
upcoming military tactical shooter. Here is a slice:
HomeLAN - What enemies will be featured in War Dogs and what will their AI allow them to do in the game?
David Paris - This depends on the storyline more than anything else. We've currently got non-specific insurgents using cheaply available modern weaponry (AK-74s, RPGs, MGs, Sniper Rifles, etc.). We're leveraging some excellent multi-level AI, that allows for decision-making at group, sub-group, and even individual NPC level. We further augment that with an easily extensible scripting facility, to provide key storyline moments, amidst the broader AI focus which will work to accomplish specific goals. Groups of soldiers can be left to defend, assault, patrol, or skirmish with the enemy with the capability to change those orders in a scripted or triggered fashion. They're mean, they're persistent, and when set to do so, my god can they be annoying.
