Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War Interview - interview
(hx) 11:45 AM CEST - Aug,20 2004
HomeLAN has posted an interview with Jay Wilson of Relic Entertainment as he talks about Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War, their upcoming Games Workshop based real-time strategy game which is scheduled for release this fall. Here is a slice:
HomeLAN - What playable sides will be available in the game?

Jay Wilson - There are 4 playable races in the game. The stalwart Space Marines, an extremely elite force of hardened and genetically modified warriors, humanity's last hope for survival. The forces of Chaos, who are the antithesis of Space Marines, fielding a few similar units, but relying heavily on cultists, daemons, and other horrific being to promote their agenda of total domination of mankind. The Orks, a brutal and savage alien race that lives for little more than war, they are an infestation, a mighty horde that threatens to overrun the galaxy with their shear numbers. And the last is the Eldar, an ancient and sophisticated alien race that are on the decline, but still wield the power from a time when they, and they alone, ruled the galaxy. Their powerful psychics and specialized warriors can dissect an army with their fast, skilled strikes.

All 4 races are playable in multiplayer or skirmish modes against the AI, but with the single player game we did not want to dilute the story by moving between different races, but rather wanted to focus on a more satisfying and straightforward experience. For that reason you only play as Space Marines, but will face each of the other races throughout the campaign.
