distributed with Half-Life 2. Here is an excerpt:
The game play is another area where Valve has remained faithful although there are still changes. It appeared to me the game is a smidgen slower than 1.6, and although I was adjusting to the new recoil of the guns, it felt like the AK47, MP5 and M4A1 had slightly more recoil than 1.6 when crouched. Running whilst shooting definitely had more pronounced recoil effects than 1.6, with the crosshair veering upwards much faster. The Glock, USP and Desert Eagle felt the same as their 1.6 counterparts.
All the weapons have undergone redesigns and look much better, bar the M4A1 Colt. I can't put my finger on it but it looks quite strange - as though the gun is pointed too far into the screen. Of all the models, it was the Scout sniper rifle that looked the most different, featuring a new black design which makes it seem more short and blunt as opposed to the streamlined gray version.. The C4 looks great and the explosion even better, with crates and stalls set ablaze after the bomb goes off. On one detonation, the physics came into play against me as when the C4 exploded, a barrel was sent flying towards me, crushing and killing me! One new feature which I was especially happy about is the redesign of the hit boxes which now feels more accurate - place your crosshair at an opponent's head far away and they will go down, no two ways about it. Couple this with the aforementioned increased recoil whilst running, and it seems Valve is making a real effort in rewarding precision shooting and not shoddy spraying.

| xxxx | (10:55 PM CEST - Aug,16 2004 ) | | what can i say, or you just don't like tactical fast moving shooters with very realistic damage? i see nothing wrong with HL 2 - CS, it looks amazing the physics are very wild (unless such things as a flying can coming at you and killing you isn't cool enough for ya) the maps do look nice and as usual the community likes to dress em up afterwards. one thing i'm glad to read is a head shot is a headshot and not this, oh lets knock your health down to 7 health.. finally they caved and made a headshot what it really is. | |
