Warhammer: 40,000 Dawn of War Q&A - interview|
| (hx) 09:05 PM CEST - Jul,24 2004 |
GameSpy
has posted
a new Q&A with Relic Entertainment's Jay Wilson, as he talks about
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn
Of War, their upcoming real-time strategy game based on the Warhammer
table-top series. Here is an excerpt:
GameSpy: Why did you choose to focus on just playing a single race (Space Marines) in the single-player campaign? Do you think this will hamper players who want to practice with the other races before they go online?
Jay Wilson: In cooperation with Games Workshop, we created a unique chapter of Space Marines for Dawn of War -- the Blood Ravens. In order to tell our story, we needed to choose a protagonist race for the player to sympathize with, and the Space Marines were an obvious choice, since they feel so familiar. Now, while the single-player game focuses on the Blood Ravens, this by no means indicates players will not get a lot of exposure to the other races. As far as practicing the other races before going online, we have extensive tutorials for each race, and gamers will have plenty of opportunities to practice their favorite race in skirmish games against the AI.
Note: In addition, IGN has a comparison up between Dawn of War and Starcraft. |
