Star Wars: Battlefront Press Event Impressions - preview|
| (hx) 10:58 AM CEST - Jun,23 2004 |
HomeLAN
has posted its impressions of
Star
Wars: Battlefront, based on playing the PS2, Xbox and PC builds of the
upcoming Pandemic-LucasArts multiplayer shooter at a press event on Tuesday
night. Here is a taster:
As we said we got to play all three versions of Battlefront and as expected the PC version is looking the best with solid framerates and support for up to 32 players in multiplayer. The Xbox version is also looking good as well with some nice textures. The PS2 version is also looking surprisingly look in terms of graphics but there were some hiccups in the game's framerate at this point.
So how does Battlefront actually play, you ask? Funny you should ask. It plays very well indeed. Pandemic has done an excellent job making the battles of the Star Wars universe come to life There is truly nothing like getting on board a Scout Walker and piloting in through Endor and shooting the NPC Ewoks..until they ram those nasty logs in your sides. There is nothing like piloting a snowspeeder with a co-pilot who fires a harpoon to bring down the AT-AT before it destroys the shield generator on Hoth. This is something that the Battlefield games, as good as they are, can’t come close to.
