Silent Hill 4: The Room Shots - media
(hx) 05:56 PM CEST - Jun,17 2004
Silent Hill 4: The Room begins in the sleepy town of South Ashfield, only a few short miles from Silent Hill. When the game's new hero, Henry Townshend awakens from a nightmare, he finds that he cannot leave his apartment. The door to the outside is heavily chained and boarded shut. Sounds emanate from the bathroom, but when he goes to investigate he notices a strange tunnel that will inevitably lead him directly into the heart of darkness.

Driven to deliver a frightful entertainment experience that is as scary as it is gratifying, the unsettling narrative of Silent Hill 4: The Room strikes fear in the hearts of its players. Traveling between the real world and a haunted alternate world, players will be forced to unravel a twisted mystery by deciphering a series of often-perplexing puzzles and clues. Adding further intimacy to the gameplay experience is the title's new 1st-person viewpoint within the real world and its 3rd-person viewpoint in the haunted alternate world. When the blood-curdling tale invades the privacy and sanctity of their home, players will likely find that the lifelike visuals will inspire real-life nightmares and nights filled with restless sleep.

Silent Hill 4: The Room is slated for release in September 2004

Silent Hill 3 easily combined all the best elements of SH 1 & 2 + the main character was nice
The idea of intergrating a 1st person view-point in SH 4 will give the game a great immersion factor/along with also attracting a more diverse community to it. I hope there will be a PC port of it, I'll be pretty pissed if there isn't.
This is one franchise I certainly dont mind seeing sequals for and hope SH 4 ends up being just as disturbing as the last three.

The brilliant SH2 was a milestone in horror games. But the team lost its way with SH3, which was too stingy with its underdeveloped story. We couldn't put down SH2; we never finished the sequel, which, despite some occasionally great imagery, was often boring. Hopefully Konami will be back on form with this one.
