EEDAR Director of Analytical Services Jesse Divnich serves up the novel idea that Xbox 360 price cut is a bad idea: I always encourage comments on my articles, and for this particular one, I would love to hear the different opinions on whether or not the PS3 or the Xbox 360 should drop its price. Keep in mind this one aspect -- if the PS3 or the Xbox 360 drop in price, they would no longer make a profit on each system sold and would solely rest on the increase in royalty revenue from extra software sold
Oh well. I think, since the departure of Bill Gates, Microsoft has been much more interested in profitability than marketshare. Sony said something similar recently about the PS3 -- that people should not expect a price cut soon. Michael Pachter touched on this subject with the OXM guys last month, basically saying that it would be foolish to do a pricecut soon and put the Xbox 360 back in the red. If I remember correctly, he said that a $50 price cut would cost Microsoft all of the profit it made from Halo 3 last fall.

Singularity - PC, PS3, Xbox 360 - Raven have stated that Singularity's main gameplay mechanism is a device, known in the game as the TMD (Time Manipulation Device). The TMD has the ability to move a single object through time, both into the future, and into the past. It can also freeze an object in time, and has an 'Impulse' function, which can be used as a weapon once upgraded. The TMD is multifunctional, as it can be used as a powerful weapon, but also as a tool in puzzle solving scenarios. The device's use as a weapon is unconventional when compared to the weapons in other games. For instance, using the TMD's "rewind" function on a human opponent will send them into a "placental" state where they revert to an almost amoebic state, before slowly dying. The device is essential for solving puzzles, such as sending a lock forward in time, causing it to rust it in real time, or sending a broken bridge backwards in time until it returns to a usable state. Sending a tree trunk forwards in time while standing on it will cause it grow very quickly, allowing the player to reach higher areas. (812 hits)
