  • Asus Taichi Laptop Has Dual Screens - Do you want more than a glowing piece of produce on the back of your laptop? Asus sure thinks so and it has just introduced the Asus Taichi to the world. It has a second display that covers the entire back cover. This is certainly the first time I've seen this. To be available in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch variants, the Asus Taichi has a double-sided IPS display so that you can still use the computer when the lid is closed. Presumably, when the lid is open, you do your computing on the regular screen and share your work with everyone else at the coffee shop with the display on the back. The two displays are independent. And yes, the back display is a touchscreen, so you can use it like a tablet when the notebook is closed. There is stylus support and we can only assume that they're going with Windows 8 for this creation. The Taichi is said to be "as light and thin as the Asus Zenbook" and it'll come powered by 3rd-gen Intel Core processors, SSD storage, and dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi.
  • DosPara Prime Note Altair F-5E UltraBook is a bundle of goodness - Say hello to the DosPara Prime Note Altair F-5E UltraBook. It packs a 14-inch display with an Intel Core i7-3517U processor, resolutions of 1366×768 pixels, Intel HD 4000 graphics, 8GB RAM, a DVD Super Multi drive, 64GB SSD for storage, 500GB HDD, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, and HDMI. The DosPara Prime Note Altair F-5E UltraBook with the i7 processor will cost you 89,900 Yen ($1,152) and with an i5 downgrade the price comes down to 79,800 Yen ($1,022).
  • World IPv6 Launch Day - Wednesday marks World IPv6 Launch Day, when many major websites such as Facebook, Google and Microsoft turn on IPv6 on their homepages. On 6th June 2011, we saw a 24-hour trial of IPv6 on the main website addresses of these sites to test for any problems, but this year IPv6 will stay enabled for good.

  • The Phantom Eye: The Eye in the Sky - Boeing's Phantom Eye is an unmanned airborne vehicle (UAV) that serves as an eye in the sky for surveillance, disaster relief, search and rescue, and a multitude of other uses. Program manager Drew Mallow talks about the innovations that made it possible.
  • Joggobot, Your Flying Robot Running Friend (video) - The concept comes by way of Exertion Games Lab at RMIT University in Melbourne. What they've done is taken the standard Parrot AR.Drone quadracopter and loaded it with some specialized software. By doing so, the drone will lock in on the user (you) and follow you around as you go for your run around the neighborhood. It's also designed to help you maintain a certain pace, so if you start to lag behind, it'll fly on ahead and 'motivate' you to keep up. Because you wouldn't want to lose your $300+ toy.
  • C-1 prototype - self-balancing electric motorcycle - Governed to 10 mph (16 km/h) and dual gyros scaled down to 650 lbs of torque, half of what the production version will run at, Lit Motors is on their way to making the C-1 a reality. They hope to bring the new class of vehicle to market with a 120 mph top speed, getting 200 miles per charge on an 8 kWh battery pack all for $16,000 USD.
  • HUBO 2 has articulated hands, can walk 2 km on a charge! - The robot can walk 2 km on a charge, and it looks like it's a little less of a slow poke now, too: KAIST increased its running speed to 4 kph from 3 kph. Check out the source link and video below to see the HUBO 2 in action -- if you're impressed, it can be yours for a cool $400,000.

What I wonder about the motorcycle itself is if it would be bogged down by safety features it might have to include at some point. Looks good and we've seen the whole cover over a motorcycle thing before. Can't help but wonder if it's worth doing. Target consumers would be fairly tiny.
