  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 CPU Tested - Intel's Q8400 is basically a Q9400 with 2MB of L2 cache disabled. This fact was reflected in our tests as we saw the two chips keep pace with one another in almost every benchmark. Against the AMD chips we used for comparison, the competition was also stiff. While the Q9400 was the best of the bunch, the Q8400 definitely held its own. Also, we were very happy with the 3.92GHz overclock we achieved with this chip at only 1.36V.

  • OTOY Goes Mobile, Turns Your Cell Phone Into Gaming Rig - Here's a video that shows OTOY tech in action on a cell phone. It's a very impressive technology, requiring no plugins or lengthy installs — just open your browser and you can instantly jump into a game of Crysis or GTA4, streamed in HD quality. According to TechCrunch, the phone above is a Samsung Omnia, which is "running" Crysis and Left 4 Dead through its built-in web browser. The Xbox 360 controller is connected to the phone wirelessly. 
  • Ultrasn0w iPhone 3G unlock for 3.0 is 0ut - Looks like the iPhone Dev-Team's Ultrasn0w unlock for legacy iPhone 3G owners is ready. The unlock works with the original iPhone as well but not the iPhone 3GS - for that you'll have to be patient. 
  • iPhone 3G S Can Do 720p But Doesn't? - According to AppleInsider, the new iPhone 3G S is capable of recording 720p video but for some reason doesn't. 
  • Tanker Implodes (video) - The tanker could have been filled with a gaseous substance at a higher temperature than the surroundings, and this demonstration may have taken place at a location that was at a temperature below the vaporization point of said gas. Therefore, as the gas inside this tanker cooled to the temperature of the surroundings, and if the tanker was well sealed, the gas inside would begin to condense and form a liquid, which would cause about a 1000x or more decrease in volume. However, since this is a constant volume system with a constant amount of material inside, this would cause an equivalent decrease in pressure inside. This huge pressure decrease may be sufficient enough to cause an implosion.
  • Talking Dog Collar from Pixar's Up! Is Real (video) - As it turns out, that doggie translating collar is very much real and here's a video. Dubbed the Bowlingual Voice Translator, the dog collar from Takara Tomy claims that it can translate the thoughts of Fido into a language that we (assuming you speak Japanese) can understand :-) Attaching the plastic toy to your dog, you will be able to hear what he is thinking each time he lets out a bark. Technology is amazing, isn't it? ;-) 
  • Mercedes ESF 2009 S400 Hybrid Concept Promotional Clip - The German premium car maker has created an Experimental Safety Vehicle, the ESF 2009 which is based on the upcoming S400 Hybrid. It is their first vehicle of this nature since the ESV 24 which was introduced at the 1974 Geneva Motor Show. 
  • Hospital Confirms Transplant For Steve Jobs - It looks as though the hospital has officially confirmed that Steve Jobs had a liver transplant, saying Apple’s CEO 'has an excellent prognosis.' The doctors also said that Jobs only had to wait a short time on the list because he was the 'sickest patient on the waiting list.'
  • Arrested for asking a policeman for his badge number (video) - The Guardian has obtained this police footage of Emily Apple and Val Swain being arrested by surveillance officers after asking for their badge numbers at the Kingsnorth climate camp last year. The two women speak to Paul Lewis about their arrest, imprisonment and official complaint.
  • Another Trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween II - The Weinstein Company has debuted the second full trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween II. Halloween II is again both written and directed by musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie, of House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and 2007's Halloween previously. This sequel is the continuation of a "reboot" of John Carpenter's original Halloween series that lasted for eight films until Halloween: Resurrection in 2002. The Weinstein Company is bringing Halloween II to theaters on August 28th this upcoming fall.
  • Battlestar Galactica: The Plan Trailer - Here's the new trailer for the TV movie 'Battlestar Galactica: The Plan,' which chronicles the same story as the TV show from the viewpoint of the Cylons. Before watching the clip, I was pretty skeptical; I don't see how you can cram the other side of a story that lasted five seasons into a two-hour episode. But I have to admit: this looks good.
