(hx) 01:11 PM CEST - Jul,22 2014 - Post a comment / read (3)
  • 6 TB NAS Drives: WD Red, Seagate Enterprise Capacity and HGST Ultrastar He6 Face-Off -  For home consumers who are interested in stashing their media collection / smartphone-captured photos and videos and expect only four or five clients to simultaneously access the NAS, the lower power consumption as well as the price of the WD Red 6 TB is hard to ignore. For users looking for absolute performance and those who need multiple iSCSI LUNs for virtual machines and other such applications would find the Seagate Enterprise Capacity v4 6 TB a good choice.
  • Western Digital's $299 6TB WD Red  -Western Digital is shipping two new 6TB hard drives as it tries to make its highest-capacity storage products more affordable. The WD Red hard drive is $299 and the WD Green will go for $279.
  • The Raspberry Pi B+ Is Here - Ever wonder what happened to the tiny computer phenomenon Raspberry Pi? Ever since it hit the scene several years ago, it has been quietly improving on the original and has just introduced an upgraded and final version of Model B as the B+.
  • How To Hijack A Chromecast - The Chromecast might be a really convenient way to stream video to your TV, but it's also a really easy way to make your TV hackable. Using an app built on top of a Rasberry Pi, the Rickmote Controller lets you take over any TV with a Chromecast.
  • Start menu showed off in leaked Windows 9 images - Screenshots from MyCE show build 9795 of what's currently still labeled as Windows 8.1. The most interesting thing in the screenshot is an early version of the Start menu, which is expected to return in Windows 9. The new Start menu shows both Modern apps and desktop apps in a hybrid pane, building on the last iteration of the Start menu we saw in Windows 7.
  • Windows 8.1 Update 2 coming August 12 - According to WinBeta, Windows 8.1 Update 2 is on track for an August 12 release. Word is: "Update 2 was originally going to include the new Start Menu, but Microsoft decided to pull the feature and save it for Threshold. Update 2 will include no new features, and will most likely be preparing for Threshold when it launches in 2015."
  • Russian government is looking to dump Microsoft for homegrown -  Thanks to political tension between the United States and Russia, along with newly announced sanctions by the US, Russia is looking to strike back at the US economy by limiting its use of Microsoft software. Only time will tell if Russia is able to successfully self-source replacements for these key applications and hardware. Seeing that enterprise-grade software is not built overnight, it could take time for this change in software procurement to have any significant impact on the bottom lines of US-based corporations. Russia and China always pirate software so I don't think this is a big deal :-) But A new OS would be nice!
  • Facebook Rolling Out 'Save' Feature - Facebook has announced a new feature that will allow users to save content for later viewing. The tool can be used to earmark links, places, movies, TV, and music. Facebook Save is headed to the web, as well as Android and iOS apps. Users will be able to save content on one platform and view it on another. Saved items will only be visible to the account holder unless they choose to share it with others. Facebook said it will periodically remind users about their saved content if it sits unread. Facebook Save is being rolled out slowly to all users over the next few days.

Most Kindle devices will also be supported, but the audiobooks portion will be limited to devices that offer that feature. • Alleged iPhone 6 Screen Gets The Sandpaper Test  - Seems as though the screen isn't pure sapphire, but it's a great deal tougher than the 5S's screen.
  • Laid-off Microsoft employee explains how layoffs were announced - Last week, Microsoft announced that it would be laying off 18,000 employees. If you are wondering how the layoffs occurred, you can watch the video to gain a better perspective on the process. As with any layoff, the process is never easy, and the video adds a human aspect to the cuts that Microsoft made last week.
  • Ukrainian Su25 fighter detected in close approach to MH17 before -The Russian military detected a Ukrainian SU-25 fighter jet gaining height towards the MH17 Boeing on the day of the catastrophe. Kiev must explain why the military jet was tracking the passenger airplane, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The presence of the Ukrainian military jet can be confirmed by video shots made by the Rostov monitoring center, Kartopolov stated. At the moment of the MH17 crash an American satellite was flying over the area of eastern Ukraine, according to Russia's Defense Ministry. It urged the US to publish the space photos and data captured by it. In addition, MH17 crashed within the operating zone of the Ukrainian army's self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air "Buk" missile systems, the Russian general said. "We have space images of certain places where the Ukraine's air defense was located in the southeast of the country," Kartapolov noted. The first three shots that were shown by the general are dated July 14. The images show Buk missile launch systems in about 8km northwest of the city of Lugansk - a self-propelled vehicle and two launchers, according to the military official. Another image shows a radar station near Donetsk.

Apathy Curve(04:14 PM CEST - Jul,22 2014 )
So, I see that J.J. Abrams wasn't content with destroying Star Trek, now he's going to do it to Star Wars as well. Quit fucking with my childhood, you penis wrinkle douchebag. Who the hell decided this guy could direct movies? Satan?

WTF he destroyed Star Trek?? You are clueless. Go back to watching smurfette pal as a movie critic you are a Fail. I've read every Star Trek book there is, followed the original series and most of all the spinoffs. Basically my favorite show. I think Abrams did the reboot excellently and the money made from the movies speaks volumes. The older movies like Wrath of Khan barely made 100 million! Seriously Apathy, get a fucking clue.

I have every confidence he will make a great Star Wars film as do many other people I know that live star wars.
