- NVIDIA Launches GRID On-Demand Game Streaming Service - Nvidia
is publicly launching
a cloud gaming service called Nvidia Grid alongside the upcoming
update. Grid allows owners of either Nvidia Shield device to stream
Windows PC games from the cloud, and from now until June 30, 2015, it
will be available in a "preview period" for free. Nvidia, describing
its GeForce-powered on-demand gaming service as
"Netflix for games," said the GRID preview will launch in Western
Europe in the first quarter of 2015 and in Asia Pacific markets in the
second quarter. An option to launch GRID has been added to the Shield
tablet's Shield Hub screen, which remains the device's launch pad for
apps and both Android and PC games, as well as a portal for gaming news
and shopping. Nvidia Shield Green Box Bundle/Credit: Nvidia. Nvidia is
upgrading its Shield tablet to Android 5.0 "Lollipop" ahead of the
holidays and offering a special "Green Box" bundle with the purchase of
the $399 32GB, LTE-enabled version of the device. The bundle includes
copies of Valve's Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, and Portal.
The 16GB, Wi-Fi-only version of the Shield tablet is priced at $299,

- Windows 10: Technical Preview build 9879 released - The
third release of the Windows Technical Preview-the pre-release
version of Windows 10-is now available. And it adds a ton of nice new
features, including some that have been requested by testers. If you're
using the Windows Technical Preview, you can upgrade to the new build
immediately. One feature that is likely to be popular in 9879 is the
ability to hide the Search and Task View buttons on the taskbar. These
options have been added to the main taskbar menu, available via
right-click. Other improvements include: New minimize and restore
animations, in response to feedback from users that the previous
animations were "a bit jarring". The '3 dots' - a stable of
Metro/Modern design - are no more. Microsoft says it's making it easier
to find the Charms and full screen button by replacing the 3 dots with
a 'hamburger-style' (three horizontal lines) button. MS says it's
"fixed a lot of issues" that users have experienced with app crashes
and system hangs.

- Google starts rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to Nexus
devices - The latest version of Google's mobile OS, Android 5.0
Lollipop, was originally expected to begin rolling out to the company's
Nexus devices on November 3. But after that date came and went with no
update, it later emerged that Google had pushed back the rollout to
November 12, possibly due to the late discovery of a battery-draining
Wi-Fi bug. You may find that the update
is not immediately available for your handset - it's likely that Google
will be ramping up availability in the hours and days ahead, and it may
be some time before all devices and variants have been fully updated.
Google has confirmed that the following devices will all be eligible
for the update: Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013, Nexus
10.
- Samsung to Use Curved Screens to Sell More Phones - Samsung
hopes to differentiate its smartphones from its competitors' phones
by using more curved displays. Samsung is on track to record a huge
loss in profit for the year thanks to weaker-than-expected sales of
phones such as the Galaxy S5 and Note 4. It has also lost ground to
low-cost competitors in markets such as China. Now that big-screened
phones are a healthy device category, Samsung is looking for different
wants to set its products apart. One way it will do that is to use
curved displays, such as the one on the Galaxy Note Edge. "A change in
the platform can bring about a variety of new considerations," said
Note Edge designer Kim Nam-su. "I think a curved screen is a big
solution for overcoming those [competitive] challenges." Reuters
suggests Samsung's ability to mass produce curved displays at a lower
cost than its rivals gives it an advantage in this respect. The Note
Edge is set to go on sale in the U.S later this month. Samsung also
plans to resurrect sales of mid-range devices.
- The ASUS ZenWatch is now available from the Google Play Store -

512MB RAM, a 9 axis and bio sensor, and is water resistant rated at
IP55. The ZenWatch is now available with a tan leather band on the
Google Play Store and will retail for $199.99 USD in the United States.
Availability in other countries has not been confirmed.
- Pangu iOS 8.1 jailbreak with Cydia is now stable for use
- Chinese team Pangu has been providing all the jailbreak related
news these days. The usual teams are out of the picture and they
haven't come up with a solution to jailbreak Apple's latest iOS
iteration. Pangu was the first to release a tool that allowed users to
jailbreak iOS 8.0.x and iOS 8.1 devices untethered. Initially the only
caveat is that Cydia wasn't included in the tool but now it has been
integrated and the creator of Cydia
himself says that this jailbreak is "stable enough" for use. Saurik
was working with the Pangu team in order to integrate Cydia in the
jailbreak. Cydia is widely regarded as the alternative App Store for
jailbroken iOS devices. It provides access to apps and customization
options that are otherwise not allowed by Apple on iOS devices.
