  • AMD's six-core Thuban to launch on April 26? - OCWorkbench claims AMD has set a date for the release of its six-core Thuban processors: April 26. If we can trust details that slipped out last month, however, Thuban will debut in three variants branded Phenom II X6 1035T, Phenom II X6 1055T, and Phenom II X6 1075T. All three processors should be compatible with AM2+ and AM3 sockets, so they may work in existing AMD motherboards. In addition, OCWorkbench also claims that suggested Thuban will be capable of 'overlcocking' individual cores in the same fashion as Intel's Turbo Boost technology.
  • NVIDIA Fermi GeForce GTX 470/480 cards scarce at launch? - DigiTimes reports thats second-tier graphics card makers are unlikely to start shipping large volumes of NVIDIA Fermi based graphics cards until April. It's unclear, then, whether the second-tier delay is an attempt by NVIDIA to control the Fermi market or merely a symptom of previous delays that have affected the platform. XFX and PNY are apparently already confirmed to be among the first wave of GeForce GTX 470/480 card manufacturers, with prices expected to be around $499.99 and $679.99 respectively.
  • GeForce GTX 400-series cards listed for sale - Sabre PC is currently listing no fewer than three cards: two GeForce GTX 480 models from XFX and PNY alongside one PNY GeForce GTX 470. The price tags are quite intimidating, perhaps as a result of the listings' pre-order status. Sabre PC charges $679.99 for both GTX 480 cards and $499.99 for the lone GTX 470. For reference, AMD's two fastest graphics cards, the Radeon HD 5870 and 5970, cost around $399.99 and $649.99, respectively. So, this is going to be like 600 euros for us europeans. Great, I'll keep waiting for something more powerful than a 5850 for 250 or so, even if that takes another year, and I have to skip another GPU generation.  Howewer, Nvidia hints leaked GF100 prices are bogus. Well, if we're to believe the folks at Nvidia, those figures aren't representative of what Fermi-based GeForces will actually cost when they officially launch on March 26. The company provided the following statement about GTX 400-series pricing:  NVIDIA and our launch partners have not released pricing or pre-order information yet. Any Web sites claiming to be taking pre-orders should not be considered legitimate.
  • Graphics card vendors may raise prices soon - DigiTimes writes that supply is still tight, and the situation may not improve until May. Worse, graphics card makers may hike prices to keep their margins up.
  • Seagate Barracuda XT 2TB SATA3 Hard Drive Tested - Futurelooks take a further look at the Seagate Barracuda XT 2TB SATA3 Hard Drive (ST32000641AS). The Barracuda XT SATA3 Hard Drive has 64MB Cache, platters still spin at a nominal 7200 RPM and power consumption average rates are listed as 6.39 watts at idle.
  • Build A Top-Notch Gaming PC Designed for Overclocking for $700 - This build will handle gaming, with modern titles, at a resolution up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p - Up to a 22-25″ monitor or a 1080p HDTV).
  • Microsoft warns of fake 'Security Essentials 2010' anti-virus - Microsoft is warning users about a fake anti virus product named "Security Essentials 2010", near identical to the naming of the company's own protection software. The fake software is actually the trojan Win32/Fakeinit. If a user installs the software then Fakeinit's downloader installs a fake scanner component that monitors other processes and attempts to terminate them. In some cases, processes will be flagged as if they are infected.
  • Facebook e-mails go to wrong inboxes - Facebook inadvertently routed e-mails to the wrong addresses Wednesday night, a problem the social networking site said was quickly resolved, but not before the messages landed in the inboxes of strangers.
  • Virgin Media to offer 100Mb broadband by end of the year [UK] - Virgin Media said on Thursday that it plans to offer 100Mb broadband services to customers by the end of 2010. The company says this is due to its use of cable, rather than the more widespread ADSL technology used by competitors. In some areas Virgin says it will offer even faster speeds of up to 200Mbps.
  • YouTube confirms 'Rickroll' removal was a mistake, brings back -  A YouTube spokesperson has confirmed to Neowin that the 'Rickroll' removal was a mistake. In an email statement to Neowin a spokesperson confirmed accounts are occasionally marked as spam and mistakenly taken down
  • YouTube will kill Internet Explorer 6 support on March 13 - Ars Technica, whose readers must still use IE 6, has taken a screen shot showing the warning as posted on YouTube that clearly shows that they will be dropping support for IE 6. The move is a big step forward towards the removal of support for IE 6 as the outdated browser has been a thorn in the side of many developers.
  • Skype cancels development of Windows Mobile client - Skype has canceled development of their WM client, and removed almost all related files from their website. Andriod client appears to have been removed too. If you've already installed the Windows Mobile version of Skype or Skype Lite, you can use it all throughout this year, though if you're a new customer, you're out of luck...

The gasoline engine is a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 (sound familiar?), and when mated to a 47-horsepower electric motor, total output for the hybrid is rated at 380-hp and 427 pound-feet of torque, all of which is fully delivered at just 1,000 rpm.

If that Thuban overcocks all cores at the same time, these will be known as CPU whores.

I can't believe the blaseness with which that guy is showing how he keeps watch on students with their laptop webcams and screws with them by controlling their computers. Wtf is that? I'm so glad this 'technology' wasn't around when I was in school. Kids don't need to be constantly controlled, they need a better education system that encourages them to make the more intelligent choices in life for themselves.
