  • Devil's Canyon: Intel Core i7-4790K - The chaps over at HotHardware have taken the Intel Core i7-4790K Devil's Canyon around the block a few times to see what it is made of.
  • Intel fined for foul-play in Europe, must shell out $1.4 billion - Intel has been ordered to pay a fine of $1.4 billion, after the General Court of the European Union upheld the European Commission's report of suspected foul play by the company. AMD filed a formal complaint back in 2000, alleging Intel of giving various benefits to PC makers such as HP, Dell, Lenovo and Acer for supplying Intel chips as the only option on their computers. The European Commission had submitted a report on Intel's abuse of its dominant position and demanded the heavy fine back in 2009. Intel's appeal against the fine has now been rejected as the General Court of the European Union in Luxembourg has upheld the commission's report.
  • Alienware launching its Steam Machine with Win 8.1 this year for $549 - Valve recently decided to delay its Steam Machine platform until 2015, but that's not stopping hardware partner Alienware from moving ahead with a Windows 8.1 version of its console. Instead of waiting until next year to launch its console, called Alpha, Alienware is working with Valve to create a custom Windows 8.1 interface that will integrate with Steam's Big Picture mode. In an interview with PCWorld, Frank Azor, general manager of Alienware, said Valve helped modify Big Picture mode so it fits with the console's glowing lights and other design elements. Azor added that the console will support SteamOS when it launches next year. 
  • Skype for iOS completely redesigned, now looks more like WP - Microsoft's Skype team has announced a massive redesign of its app for iOS, which the company says is now its "most refined version yet". The app is more than just an update - Microsoft says that it has completely rewritten this latest version "from the ground up". Skype 5.0 for iPhone launches worldwide "in about a week" and a new version is also in the works for iPad - although Microsoft hasn't yet announced when that is expected to arrive
  • Samsung Warns Music Hub Customers to Download Tracks - Samsung recently began to email customers in an effort to alert them about the pending shut-down of its Music Hub service. The service will officially go offline July 1. Samsung is warning customers that their music library will not be available after that date. It suggests customers download all their purchased music and use any remaining vouchers for Samsung Music before July 1. Samsung noted all songs sold through the Music Hub are free of DRM and can be played, stored, and transferred to other devices. Samsung suggests users switch to its own Milk Music service, which is powered by Slacker, or to Google Play Music All Access. Samsung first revealed plans to shutter the Music Hub last month. Music Hub was preinstalled on many of Samsung's Galaxy-branded smartphones.
