  • $70 Hackintosh That Outperforms The $1,300+ 2016 Macbook Pro - Quinn at Snazzy Labs had to do some digging and clever problem solving to get this thing together, but in the end, he built a machine that could edit 4K video in Final Cut Pro.
  • AMD Takes 10.4% CPU Share from Intel in Q2 2017 - According to a new report from PassMark, AMD has increased its market share by 10.4%: the company’s percentage last quarter was 20.6%, but now it is sitting at 31%. This is supposedly AMD’s largest single quarter share gain in history: Ryzen may be the company’s most successful product launch ever
  • AMD Reveals EPYC 7000 Server CPUs - Earlier leaks revealed what AMD's new server processors would be packing, but the EPYC line is now official: the company showed off the new chips at an event in Austin, Texas, which feature up to 32C/64T Zen cores, 2TB RAM, and 128 PCI-E lanes. The AMD channel has a number of new EPYC-related videos up, one of which describes the transformative power of their processors in one-socket and two-socket servers.
  • Latest GeForce Drivers May Crash Watch Dogs 2 on Startup - You should probably avoid NVIDIA driver 384.76 if you intend to play Watch Dogs 2. Many who have updated to that version on Ubisoft’s forums are complaining about the sequel crashing on startup. A hotfix driver will be released as early as next week, however
  • Windows Defender Application Guard to Use Virtualized Environment - We take a look at Windows Defender Application Guard a new capability coming to Windows 10 Creators update this fall to prevent browser-based attacks. You'll see the user experience in Microsoft Edge when navigating to untrusted and trusted sites. How Windows Defender Application Guard leverages virtualization and Hyper-V to isolate the running processes from Windows and how you can deploy and configure application guard in your organization
  • Petya/NotPetya Ransomware Spreading via LAN - A month after the WannaCry attack hit the world, the NotPetya attack has been making the rounds. Here's what happens when it hits your computer.
  • Petya Ass There is a Killswitch for NotPetya - One enterprising security researcher from Boston has found a fairly simple way to usurp the file encrypting madness.
  • Facebook Expands WiFi Finder Tool - Facebook has made its free Find WiFi service available to more people around the world. Facebook has been testing the tool in select regions since last year. The service helps mobile users find and log into free public WiFi networks, particularly those that have shared their login details with Facebook. The idea is to help people on metered data plans access WiFi when possible, though Facebook also says it helps when cellular connection speeds are congested or slow. The Find WiFi tool is buried in the settings of the main Facebook mobile application for Android and iOS devices.
  • EU slaps Google with record $2.7 billion fine  - European Union regulators slapped Google with a record €2.4 billion ($2.7 billion) antitrust fine on Tuesday, the latest broadside fired at big American tech companies doing business in the region. The European Commission found that the U.S. tech giant denied "consumers a genuine choice" by using its search engine to unfairly steer them to its own shopping platform. Regulators said that Google must change its behavior within 90 days or face additional penalties.
  • Samsung Galaxy Note8 expected to have 64GB and 128GB variants - According to South Korean website OSEN, a Samsung official revealed that the Galaxy Note8 will have two storage variants, one with 64GB of internal storage and the other with 128GB. In addition to the internal storage, the device will have an expansion slot for microSD cards. The report mentions that the maximum storage can go up to 256GB with a memory card. Since the Galaxy S8 and S8+ already support 256GB cards, it should be safe to assume that the Note8 would as well. It is rumored that the Note8 will be one expensive device starting at €1000, and the 128GB variant will put an even deeper hole in customers' pockets if they choose to get one. Samsung is also expected to launch the refurbished version of the Galaxy Note7 in the coming week.
  • Qualcomm Is Taking Fingerprint Scanners below the Surface - Your fingerprint scanners are going down next summer. As in they're going below the glass and behind the back of your phone, according to Qualcomm. At Mobile World Congress Shanghai on Tuesday, the chipmaker announced new fingerprint sensors that can work underneath your phone's display, through metal and glass, and underwater. Qualcomm expects the first commercial devices using fingerprint sensors underneath glass and metal to start selling in early 2018, while sensors that go under the display should show up by the summer of 2018
  • OnePlus 5's Display Is Inverted, Causes - For some reason, OnePlus decided to mount the display panel upside-down on the OnePlus 5. The company insists that this was intentional and not an oversight, yet it is resulting in an annoyance dubbed "jelly scrolling": this effect causes text to bunch up together and then stretch out when the user is swiping in the opposite direction. There will be no OTA update or RMA to resolve the issue.
  • LG Intros the X charge, an Xfinity Mobile Exclusive - LG has announced the X charge, a smartphone that puts a priority on battery life. Similar to last year's X power, the X charge has an enormous battery with a capacity of 4,500mAh. LG claims the battery can push the phone through an "entire weekend" on a single charge. The power cell is embedded within the phone, but it supports rapid charging. Other features include a 5.5-inch 720 display, 1.5 GHz octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage. The main camera has a 13-megapixel sensor and the wide-angle selfie camera has a 5-megapixel sensor and LED flash. LG says the X charge also includes Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, and LTE 4G. The phone runs Android 7 Nougat with LG's software features, such as Gesture Shot. The LG X charge reaches Xfinity Mobile stores on June 30. Pricing wasn't immediately shared. Xfinity Mobile is owned and operated by Comcast and runs on Verizon's network.
  • T-Mobile Hits 741 Mbps with LTE-LAA, Deploys LTE-U - T-Mobile today said it, too, has successfully tested LTE-LAA in real-world trials. The company claims its LTE-LAA tests reached 741 Mbps in and around Los Angeles. Like the recent tests conducted by AT&T, T-Mobile's use of LTE-LAA combines airwaves that it owns along with unlicensed spectrum to push speeds upward. T-Mobile says it was able to aggregate 80 MHz between licensed and unlicensed spectrum in its trials to attain the 741 Mbps download rate. More importantly for the short term, T-Mobile has deployed LTE-U in some markets. LTE-U relies on public 5 GHz spectrum (same as WiFi) along with advanced network technologies including carrier aggregation, 256 QAM, and 4x4 MIMO to boost LTE performance. T-Mobile is offering LTE-U in Bellevue, Wash.; Brooklyn, N.Y.; Dearborn, Mich.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Richardson, Texas; and Simi Valley, Calif. More markets will score LTE-U service later this year. Right now, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is the only device able to take advantage of LTE-U.
  • Virgin Mobile offers first year of unlimited service for $1  - Virgin Mobile USA, which is owned and operated by Sprint, transformed itself today into new provider much more closely aligned with the Virgin brand. Significantly, Virgin Mobile USA is now an iPhone-only carrier, meaning Apple's iPhones are the only phones Virgin will sell moving forward. Virgin has dropped its roster of Android handsets completely. Further, shoppers will be able to buy and activate an iPhone on Virgin Mobile USA at Apple Stores. Pricing for Virgin Mobile iPhones starts at $279 for the 32 GB iPhone SE and ranges up to $969 for the 256 GB iPhone 7 Plus. According to the company's web site, Virgin Mobile does not offer financing for iPhones and customers will have to pay full price. The company now offers only a single service plan. For $50 per month, Virgin Mobile USA provides unlimited talk, text, and data in the U.S. International roaming add-ons start at $5 per month. There are limitations on Virgin's plan: video playback is capped at 480p, music is streamed at 500Kbps, and gaming is streamed at 1.5Mbps. Virgin says mobile data speeds will be suppressed when the network is congested. For a limited time, Virgin Mobile is offering up to 12 months of service for just $1. The $1 yearly service offer is only available to customers buying a new iPhone and activating it on Virgin's network. Customers will have to sign up by July 31, 2017 to score the $1 deal. At the end of the 12-month service plan for $1, customers will automatically be moved to the $50 plan. Last, the $1 yearly plan and iPhone purchase buy customers access to the Virgin Inner Circle. The Inner Circle is a promotional program that provides benefits with other Virgin-branded properties. For example, Inner Circle members who buy one plane ticket on Virgin Atlantic will be given a second ticket for free. Inner Circle members who book two nights at a Virgin-owned hotel will be able to cash in on a third night for free. Virgin says these offers will be made available to Inner Circle members every few weeks. Customers interested in this package can pre-order one of Virgin Mobile USA's iPhones starting today. The phones and Inner Circle will become available starting June 27. Virgin did not immediately say what current Android-using customers can or should do with their handsets.
  • Wall Street Cheers Replacement of Cashiers with Digital Kiosks - McDonald's shares hit an all-time high on Tuesday as Wall Street expects sales to increase from new digital ordering kiosks that will replace cashiers in 2,500 restaurants. McDonald's shares rallied 26 percent this year through Monday compared to the S&P 500's 10 percent return. Latest GeForce Drivers May Crash Watch Dogs 2 on Startup

Watchdogs is a pretty stupid game so I guess I don't need to be worried.

EU slaps Google with record $2.7 billion fine

Google deserves a bunch of additional slapping on the account of invading privacy and tracking users by denying "consumers a genuine choice" to opt out of any of that shit.

Qualcomm Is Taking Fingerprint Scanners below the Surface

Is the Qualcomm IP pool running dry that they have to invent stupid shit like that (and sell it as gold)?

T-Mobile Hits 741 Mbps with LTE-LAA, Deploys LTE-U

Nice, getting close to my home internet speed. I would never use it on a mobile though.

Virgin Mobile offers first year of unlimited service for $1

These guys fucked their customers many times in the arse so I am not sure why they're still called 'Virgin'.

Wall Street Cheers Replacement of Cashiers with Digital Kiosks

Katrina Bowden Bikini Goodness - I'm pretty sure Katrina Bowden will be a full-time semi-professional bikini model after that acting career of hers washed out.

She has no tits, hence, no modeling career in bikini industry if you ask me. ;)

i mean, she's still hot, but no tits to speak of. Might be a good thing, won't get saggy tits in her 50s...
