  • "Matrix" Loads Massive Opening Day - The hotly anticipated middle movie of the Wachowski Bros.' cyber-epic raked in an incredible $42,508,303 at 3,603 theaters on Thursday, storming past the $30,141,471 that Attack of the Clones posted on this same day last year as the biggest weekday gross ever. That raw number also stands as the highest opening day ever, ahead of Spider-Man's $39,406,872. According to ZDNet, Illegal copies of 'The Matrix Reloaded' are reportedly available for download on the Internet.
  • Disney to Begin Renting 'Self-Destructing' DVDs - That is the warning The Walt Disney Co.will issue this August when it begins to "rent" DVDs that after two days become unplayable and do not have to be returned. The discs stop working after a change in color renders them unreadable. They start off red, but when they are taken out of the package, exposure to oxygen turns the coating black and makes it impenetrable by a DVD laser. Buena Vista hopes the technology will let it crack a wider rental market, since it can sell the DVDs in stores or almost anywhere without setting up a system to get the discs back. The technology cannot be hacked by programmers who would want to view the disc longer because the mechanism which closes the viewing window is chemical and has nothing to do with computer technology. However, the disc can be copied within 48 hours, since it works like any other DVD during that window.
  • Intel to cut Celeron and Pentium-M prices shortly - Board makers said that according to Intel's roadmap, new pricing for the Celeron line will be announced on May 25, with the biggest discount seen in the top-end 2.4GHz model. After the adjustment, all of Intel's Celerons will be priced below US$100
  • Sharp releases two notebook-like PDAs: SL-C750 and SL-C760 - Sharp released two new Zaurus PDAs: SL-C750 and SL-C760 to arrive for sale for $516 and $603, respectively. They feature 3.7" and work under Linux OS.  Both devices are based on 400MHz XScale PXA255 and have 64Mb (30Mb free) flash and 64Mb SDRAM (SL-C750); 128Mb flash (65Mb free) and 64 Мб SDRAM (SL-C760). SL-C760 is scheduled for sale from June 21, SL-C750 - from May 24. (thanks Digit-Life)
  • Cooler Master ATCS 110B-SX1 Case review - Hexus has posted a new review of Cooler Master ATCS 110B-SX1 Case.
  • TwinMOS PC3200 DDR Memory Review  - With the release of the 800MHz P4 and the 400MHz AMD (both running on a 200MHz FSB), DDR400 is going to become the norm. It's time to start sorting out the good DDR400 from the overclocked DDR333. Check out the TwinMOS PC3200 (DDR400) review over at Club Overclocker.
  • Epox 8RDA+ Motherboard Review - OCIA has posted a review of Epox 8RDA+  (nForce2 chipset) motherboard. Another review can be found at HardCOREware.net
  • Gentoo Review - The 'meta-distro' Gentoo makes it possible to compile and configure everything on your system exactly the way you like, providing you with more structure and tools to ease the process and automate updates. Do I still like Debian? I absolutely love it. But until further notice, Gentoo is now my flavor of Linux.
  • Mozilla Firebird v 0.6 - Mozilla Firebird is a redesign of the Mozilla browser component, similar to Galeon, K-Meleon and Camino, but written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform. It does look like a serious competitor for Opera 7.0 series browser. Check it out.

And it's not like someone with 1/2 a brain couldn't figure out that you can still rip the DVD.

The DVD reacts chemically with air. From the date of manufacture, the DVD in it's UNOPENED state is good for up to one year. Haha...expiry. In a little section of their site http://www.flexplay.com they have their RECYCLE section, where they state they believe in recycling AND you can MAIL it to a company who can recycle it. Is this a joke? They create these DVD's because people are too lazy to return them, and they expect people to mail these things out - most likely at your own cost? Maybe if the company picked up the postage by simply letting people drop these DVD's in a mailbox would this ever work. Theoretically, you could play this DVD forever in a vacuum where it can have no reaction with air. Someone will probably come up with a coating you could apply to prevent it from reacting with air.

btw, any comments on Matrix Reloaded? I'm hearing alot of negative reviews due to lack of story unlike the first. Any ways, I....like many others will probably go see it regardless.

the looks of Matrix Unloaded is more impressive than the orignial, but with more characters and roles in MR its bound to have a lack of story line look at BLADE and blade 2 see what i mean !
