- Xeons to reach 3.06GHz this time next year - Intel is performing
its usual conjuring trick by offering Xeon processors at megahertz speed a few quarters
after desktop Pentium 4s, its latest roadmaps have revealed. And that means that by the
second quarter of next year we'll see Xeons at 3.06GHz and supporting both 400MHz and 533MHz front
side buses.
- Intel chooses DDR over Rambus for new server and workstation chipsets -
According to the companys latest roadmap, Intel will adopt DDR architecture for its next-generation server and
workstation chipsets, dealing a blow to Rambus DRAM (RDRAM) in the high-end market. In the
desktop market, Intel still supports RDRAM with its 850 and 850E chipsets.

- MS Pushes Standardized DVD Writing for Longhorn - With Longhorn set to
enter beta testing next year, Microsoft has begun to make
plans for supporting new hardware technologies in the upcoming version of Windows. At
the top of the list is the inclusion of native DVD write capabilities, with floppy-like
drag and drop writing support. But multiple non-interchangeable DVD formats may lead
Microsoft to back a single technology and force manufacturers to reach a consensus on
standards.
- XP registry bug causes blue screen of death - Microsoft has quietly issued a notice about problems with the registry that can
cause users of XP, both Home and Professional edition to see the dreaded blue screen of
death on their PCs.
The company says that when "registry hives" get damaged, people may see the
message "Unexpected Shutdown" or the far more friendly and informative message
"Stop: 0cx0000135", resulting in PCs possibly being a little hard to boot.

can now use Nero 5.5's Embedded API to add our powerful CD/DVD-writing functions
to your own applications. For example, you can record graphics files right from your
graphics application.
- 3D-Analyze 1.4 Beta - 3D Analyze is a small program of bench (same style that Fraps) which
makes it possible to analyze your performances 3d under DirectX 8.1 and OpenGL. This one
makes it possible to post the number of fps, the number of polygones/frames and numbers it
polygons/seconds. They say "that it enables you to force
software TNL in GTA3. It actually results to a significant increase in the frame
rate" (thanks GTA Scraper).

fixes a small issue with WindowsXP where a warning dialog would be repeated without fixing
the problem of WinDVD values not being set yet.

is a new tweaking tool with support for all versions of Windows, and several types of
graphics cards. TweakDB focuses mainly on increasing system performance but also on
increasing system stability and addressing windows problems.
- Epox 8KHA+ BIOS - Epox have released a new BIOS update v2612 for the 8KHA+ which solves the shutdown problems.
