Akella has released a development update on
Showdown:
Scorpion, their upcoming cyber-punk first-person shooter:
Akella and B-Cool Interactive report on completion of the set of features in
Scorpion, ongoing first-person action game set in cyber-punk styled Earth of
late 2030s. CoolEngine, in-house 3D graphical engine, is almost finished and
stoned by now with only minor bug-fixing ahead.
Huge part of the AI-system is also completed, allowing ranged opponents to
perform intelligently using teamwork and all kinds of in-game objects for cover.
AI can now encircle the player properly, cover moving allies and dislodge the
player from safe locations by combination of flanking fire and explosives usage.
Now AI team is focusing on behavior of close-combat and flying units.
Design team is working intensively on general playability, with weapon
balance and overall game difficulty being their main target. Most of the graphic
assets and locations are also finished so our artists are refocusing on creating
additional visual effects, as well as briefings movies and cut-scenes.
