- Next Microsoft operating system will be radical change from XP -
The next version of the world's most popular desktop operating system,
code-named "Longhorn," is due out in test form next year and in final form in
2004. It will have
a new look and feel, very different from Windows XP's. Its guts will also
be radically different from Windows XP's, because they're based on XML --
extensible markup language, the emerging lingua franca of the Internet. And it
will be the first version that won't function fully without new hardware.
- Face transplants not just science fiction - Although it sounds like
a plot from a science-fiction movie,
surgeons in Britain say they will be able to carry out the first full facial
transplant within a year. New microsurgical devices and better
anti-rejection drugs have made possible the transplanting of skin, muscle and
bone from a dead person to another -- in particular, those who suffer facial
deformities.
- RIAA forces CDCovers.cc to take down its audio section - The money
hungry people at the RIAA / IFPI have made it very clear that they
don't want us to host audio
covers anymore. It's all about money folks and although we are a profit
free organization that runs on voluntary basis those scumbags don't give up
and want to shut us down through threatening our host. It's been a great
adventure but we cannot afford this anymore. Therefore we have decided to take
the audio section offline for good. Thank you all for your support for the
past 3 years.
