- Despite console market share, all is not lost for PC gaming -
Most games are purchased for the living room console rather than the bedroom
computer. According to NPD Techworld, a research firm, PC game sales last
year hit 65.3 million units, up 3.6 percent from the previous year. But 110
million console games were sold during the same period, and sales for the
category rose 9 percent. That means that consoles have already grabbed about
two-thirds of the digital gaming market, and are snatching at the rest.

- Nokia and Ericsson triple the calling capacity - Nokia and Ericsson
said Tuesday they've each
separately reached milestones for cell phone equipment that uses wideband-CDMA,
the cell phone standard expected to dominate its rivals by 2005.
Wideband-CDMA (w-CDMA) triples the calling capacity of any cell phone
network. It also creates a wireless Web with download speeds that are seven
times faster than dial-up Web services such as America Online. It's expected
to dominate the world stage because any wireless carrier, regardless of the
type of cell phone network it has, can upgrade to w-CDMA, which is not the
case for rival cell phone standards like GPRS.

- Intel's 2.5GHz/400MHz Pentium4 Overclocking - So basically, history
has taught us that when a new stepping comes out the chip usually has better
potential for quality and is generally more overclockable. Another reason why
we were keen to
lay our hands on the new 2.50GHz is that is has a 400MHz bus rating, not
533MHz that the 2.53GHz model does.

- Winsonar 2002 Freeware Edition 2.01.12 -
Winsonar 2002 (download)
is a Freeware program specifically designed for process monitoring purposes:
it detects new processes that permanently install into memory while system is
working. Windows (Tm) has a built-in task monitor, but the user will not be
prompted for new-installed tasks and even using the task monitor he won't able
to distinguish normally running modules from new-added ones. The basic idea is
that if the user could know a new program permanently installed into memory,
he could readily scan it using an updated antivirus program: viruses couldn't
really hide for a long time before being detected.
