  • Chip implants--game plan for Sony? - Sony ads predict a surgically-implanted game controller by 2075--and what about other devices, too? Will medical experts replace hardware engineers in product development?
  • Robotic Indiana Jones to penetrate pyramid - The National Geographic Society, using the same kind of robot used to search for survivors in the ruins of the World Trade Center, is trying to solve a mystery that lies deep in the bowels of the 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid of Giza. A mini-robot, dubbed the pyramid rover, has been called in. This modern marvel is about 5.5 inches wide and 1 foot long. Its four sets of treads, two above and two below, engage the bottom and the top of the tunnel to give it traction.
  • PlayStation 2 gamers claim foul play - While Sony's online gaming experiment is only a few weeks old, PlayStation 2 gamers are already finding some people don't play fair.
  • Radeon 9700 AGP 8x Problem - According to ATI, they are now receiving and testing these 8X AGP boards. They are ALSO finding the 9700 does not work at all or works intermittently at best on these boards. Engineering indicated most of the boards already shipped have this problem. Solution: A new BIOS and some board revisions are now available that fix this problem. Call ATI Customer Service for help with the issue. At present, they will ship a replacement board that WILL work in SiS and VIA 8X, but they are also considering a BIOS flash solution for problem boards. Customer Service and Engineering deserve a 10-1/2 for their wonderful handling of this issue. They are very concerned that it be corrected quickly. They also shared that most of their 8X validation testing was done with Intel's unreleased 8X chipset and that they are just now receiving shipping versions of the SiS and VIA 8X chipsets.
  • Fujitsu May Replace 300,000 Faulty Disk Drives - Fujitsu Ltd., Japan's biggest business computer maker, said it may replace as many as 300,000 hard disk drives after discovering a fault. Its shares declined 4.9 percent, their biggest one-day decline in almost two months. The flaw may affect between 2 percent to 3 percent of the 10 million hard disk drives it produced between September 2000 and September 2001, spokeswoman Emi Watanabe said. The disk drives are found in Fujitsu's own computers, as well as those of Fujitsu customers NEC Corp. and International Business Machines Corp.
  • Akasa ShinEtsu Thermal Interface Pads - Akasa has been manufacturing coolers and PC Cooling related products for a while now. But recently they have introduced a new heat exchange material called Thermal Interface Material or for short T.I.M. Akasa put their thinking caps on for this product and ease of use must have been high on their list because this stuff is as easy to apply as applying tape to paper. No more messy guessing games with T.I.M. s. Akasa developed the perfect chemical balance for excellent heat exchange and solid material for a more precise and easy application.
  • NOLF 2 Lithtech Movie - Watch the charming secret agent, Kate Archer, get ambushed and take a sword to the sholder by an assassin.

  • PGP Corporate Desktop Version 7.1.x for Windows Fix - While PGP supports long file names, it encounters problems when it tries to encrypt or decrypt files that have names longer than 200 characters. When PGP tries to encrypt or decrypt these files, it suffers an overflow and crashes. An attacker could theoretically take advantage of this vulnerability to temporarily disable PGP, obtain a user's passphrase, or run malicious code on the user's computer! The bug affects PGP Corporate Desktop, PGP Personal Security, and PGP Freeware. Network Associates. Download FIX.
