- Can a PC think for itself? - Day after day since 1984, teams of
programmers, linguists, theologians, mathematicians and philosophers have plugged away at a $60 million project they hope will transform human
existence: teaching a computer common sense.
- Monkey brains move cursor with thought control - Monkeys implanted with special electrodes moved a cursor on a computer
screen just by thinking about it, and learned how to do it better with practice,
scientists reported on Thursday.
In Schwartz's experiment, each tiny electrode was attached to a single neuron in the motor
cortex, the part of the brain where movement is controlled.

- Computex Taipei 2002 Coverage - VR-Zone have posted all the ClawHammer boards pics based on AMD
8151/8111, VIA K8HT, ALi M1687/M1563 and SiS 755. Other interesting boards showcased are
VIA KT400, SiS648 and NVIDIA Crush 18D from motherboard manufacturers like SOYO, EPoX,
ABIT, DFI, Shuttle, Gigabyte, ASUS, FIC, ECS and more.
- New video card company coming? - The Anti-Aliasing for the Apocalypse
1500 will be at 16x (using the Selestec[tm], a new form of FSAA). Also, the
Anisotropic Filtering is going to have the option of at least 128-tap. The blurring issue
will not be a problem. Take 3DLabs 16x Anti-Aliasing on the Wildcat III for example, but
without blurring. Transform and Lighting will definetely be implemented in hardware, and
so will Pixel and Vertex shaders.
3dfx T-Buffer is not dead. Here's some more specs: Apocalypse 1500 - 4 chip SLI
512MB RAM (16x A-A) / Apocalypse 1000 - 2 chip SLI 256MB RAM (12x A-A) / Apocalypse 500 -
1 chip 128MB RAM (8x A-A) Chip design is nearly complete, and board design is in full
swing. I will be finishing the chip design this month (hopefully).
- NV30 delayed? - The Inquirer has come through with another 3D-related
proclamation: NV30 might
not be ready before Christmas.
