  • HomeLAN prepares for UltraUnreal II LAN - HomeLAN has agreed to provide a stack of their top-notch gaming servers to host UT on at the upcoming UltraUnreal II LAN this July (the 19th-21st). These machines will be the server-core for the head-to-head action at this unofficial release party for UnrealTournament 2003.
  • Xbox-PC connection coming soon? - An online survey conducted recently by a Microsoft partner indicates that the software giant is considering producing a kit that would let people use an Xbox video game console and a TV to access entertainment files stored on their PC.
  • Hackers throw lifeline to Xbox - According to XboxHackz.com, which is offering modification toolkits, users have a choice of two chips to 'enhance' the functionality of the console. First to market is the Xtender chip, available for $79. Its nearest rival, the Enigmah-X, costs $10 less.
  • Nokia goes direct with US smartphone - As of this morning, US buyers can purchase Nokia's 9290 Communicator via the web, with Nokia telling us that deliveries should be fulfilled within a week or so. The 9290 is priced at $599 without a contract, with a $50 voucher for third party software.
  • Hacker breaks into electronics site - TheNerds.net was trying to evaluate how many of its 100,000 customers were affected by the break-in, President David Kriegstein said. Scores of customers reported getting e-mail directly from the alleged hacker, and the company began directly notifying all customers that their credit card information, home address and phone numbers may have been stolen.
  • Microsoft Exchange hole "critical" - The vulnerability, which Microsoft classified as "critical," affects e-mail servers running Exchange 2000. Malformed messages created using RFC 821 and 822, versions of the SMTP format commonly used by e-mail programs, can cause the CPU of the server receiving the message to run at 100 percent as it attempts to read the message. The result would be a denial-of-service attack, with the affected server unable to do anything until it finishes processing the message.
  • Intel Itanium 2 Benchmarks - Intel has released some benchmarks today for their upcoming Itanium 2 processor codenamed McKinley that is on schedule to be launched during second half of this year. With a faster 3MB on-die L3 cache, 6 instructions/cycle and 6.4GB/s of bandwidth, it is poised to perform at 1.5-2x of the current Itanium processor. Here's the overview of how the Intel Itanium 2 at 1Ghz clock frequency will perform against the current Itanium 800Mhz processor.
  • Intel 850E & Pentium 4 2.4GHz - Well earlier this month Intel announced and launched the third iteration of their P4, still known as Northwood, but featuring a new 533MHz quad pumped 133MHz data bus to bestow a whopping 4.2GB/s of data bandwidth. Along with this, Intel presented the 850E chipset with official support for the P4's new 533MHz data bus, being the only distinction from the former 850 chipset. 133MHz PC1066 RDRAM support failed to make it's way into the 850E, although many new boards based on the 850E do feature the necessary clock dividers/multipliers, and wont have a problem running this type of memory - even if the standard is classified as 'unofficial'.
  • There's no ignoring Doom III - This good article at MSNBC.com is from yesterday, but still worth reading. Carmack said about ATI: "I told everyone that I was going to demonstrate Doom III on the best hardware, and there has been no collusion or kickbacks or anything like that going on. Our objective is the technical merit."
  • InterActual DVD Playback Application Error WinXP Patch - When navigating through the options menu with the InterActual DVD playback application included with some DVD Video titles, users may experience difficulty viewing the extra features (ie photo gallery) on these DVDs. Download now to prevent these issues from possibly occurring.
  • Counter-Strike 1.5 with 118 FPS - Check this thread  at xp-erience.com

Macromedia Studio MX, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Macromedia ColdFusion MX, and Macromedia Fireworks MX are all available for immediate purchase today from the Macromedia Online Store.
  • Windows 2000 SP3 RC Build 3.140  - Microsoft have got their thumbs out from wherever they were and released what they are calling Pre RC SP3 for Windows 2000. Some changes include Windows Installer (MSI) was updated from 1.3 (SP2 level) to 2.0 rendering some installers completely useless (Trend Micro PC-cillin 2000 are affected).
  • FlashFXP 1.4.4 Beta Build 854 - FlashFXP is the most powerful and popular FTP & FXP Client for Microsoft Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP. This new bete features 4 new commands to the custom commands, Minor enhancements to SSL support, 2 new sound events - Schedule start & Schedule End.
  • DVD Genie v4.10 - DVD Genie is a small software that allows you to modify the region code for popular software-based DVD Players including such players as Software Cinemaster, PowerDVD and WinDVD (among a few). It also allows you to tweak these programs with undocumented features to better fit your system. DVD Genie will also allow you to select which program runs when a DVD Disc is inserted into the drive and contains support for fullscreen Zooming on widescreen movies with certain players.
  • Trillian v0.725 - Trillian consolidates all the major chat clients IRC, AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo! Messenger letting you use all of them at once.
  • NVIDIA BIOS Editor v1.0 RC3 build 245 - This program will support all BIOSes from TNT2 and up to Ti 4600. Except TNT and TNT2 with old version of Control Block (less than version 3). Does not require any .dll, and will work under any version of Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP.
  • NVmax 4.02 - The big difference in this new version is a completely improved interface, the sliders are looking excellent and i replaced the old boring command buttons for my cool custom ones... see it to believe... Other big difference is the highly optimized code that reduced in the first instance the size of the exe from 536 Kb to 420 Kb... but then with all the added features it went a bit larger...
