  • NY Times Readers Can't Digest Klez Worm - According to Times spokeswoman Christine Mohan, approximately 250 subscribers to the TimesDigest service received the e-mail, which carried an attached file infected with Klez.
  • MP3 viruses could play with Winamp - A bug in the code of Winamp 2.79 allows a specially formed data tag in an MP3 file to cause a buffer overrun in the application, which could be exploited to run any piece of code the attacker wishes. The glitch was posted to the Bugtraq security mailing list Friday by Andreas Sandblad, a Swedish engineering student.
  • Hackers Continue 'Early Warning' Attacks On U.S. Web Sites - A team of hackers, cutting a wide swath of Web-site defacements across the country in what they say is the interests of national security, added servers from Sandia National Laboratories, the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to a list of conquests today.
  • Multiple Solaris vulns reported - According to eSecurityOnline, your Solaris system is screwed six ways to Sunday, though we'll note that the majority of stuff-ups they cite are not remotely exploitable
  • Microsoft: XP SE Not Happening - Microsoft will release XP SP1 this fall, and then begin the beta program for the next Windows version (code-named Longhorn). But Longhorn isn't set to ship until sometime in 2004, leaving an empty release slot in late 2003. The fact that Microsoft has shipped a new consumer Windows product every year since 1995 has led to speculation about XP SE.
  • Plans for PlayStation 3 - Sony has courted alliances with some of the technology industry's biggest hitters in an effort to "soundly beat whatever our rivals produce next''. IBM and Toshiba are jointly designing the central chip that will control the PlayStation 3 at a top-secret technology lab in Austin, Texas. The project, which aims to create the ultimate graphics and sound processor, is believed to cost around $1bn (£650m).
  • AMD gains on Intel, sets Hammer speeds - AMD's chairman, Jerry Sanders, told an audience at Merrill Lynch's Hardware Heaven conference in San Francisco that Hammer, the company's forthcoming chip for desktops and servers, will debut at 2GHz or higher. Hammer will ship to PC makers in the fourth quarter and will be released to the public in the first quarter of 2003, Sanders added.
  • Gainward release Ti4200 prices - Gainward have just sent us these prices on the new Ti4200 cards, this in my opinion confirms Gainwards commitment to the UK gamer. As you are probably aware, Ti4200's offer near Ti4400 performance for a fraction of the price, check em out. Street prices SRP 64MB Ultra/650 TV/DVI £179.99 inc VAT
128MB ULtra/650 XP Golden Sample £249.99 inc VAT expect online pricing to be lower!!!! Of course the price in $ is approximately £1 to $1.4.
  • CPU & Chipset Lapping Guide - Every metal surface on every heatsink that I have ever seen has a lot of little imperfections in them. It simply isn't possible for the manufacturers to produce perfectly flat bottomed heatsinks. They are good enough for you to use but by doing something called lapping you can usually lower your temps a few degrees. Any real mod freak will want to lap the heatsink on your northbridge as well as the one on your CPU. Today we will be lapping our Northbridge heatsink but you can use the same principles on your CPU and heatsink.
  • Quake 3 Engine Tweak Guide - What I am going to do is show you a copy of the default q3config.cfg file and then explain just a few items you will want to edit for your preferences. A very brief but informative description will be used.  Not all of these settings will be in all Quake III based games but most will be. There will be options in the newer games that are not shown here. If it is an item to be simply enabled or disabled then 1=true or on, 0=false or off.
  • How to Use Computer Management in WinXP - Computer Management is a collection of Windows administrative tools that you can use to manage a local or remote computer. The tools are organized into a single console, which makes it easy to view administrative properties and to gain access to the tools that are necessary to perform your computer-management tasks.
  • Ad-aware 5.80  - Ad-aware is an award winning, free multi adware removal utility, that scans your memory, registry and hard drives for known adware components and lets you remove them safely.
  • CloneCD version 4.0.0.0 Final - Don't leech this file, this "final" version is FAKE!!!
  • AVG 6.0 Anti-Virus System (Free) - I have to pay for this software in my country, but it's still free for all americans!
  • Nero InCD 3.28.0 -  Ahead has released a new InCD Update of their packet CD reading/writing software.
  • Winkey Enhancer - Start your favorite applications, folders and Web pages instantly by using your own "Windows key" shortcuts with WinKey. This FREE shell extension allows you to define keyboard shortcuts with the Windows key.
  • nForce Unified Driver Package v1.05 - This new version (Win9x/ME ~ Win2k/XP) adds Rear Stereo Support and includes some compatibility Fixes.
