- Judge Says Hacker's Damage Too Trivial For Federal Crime - The
second-ever conviction under federal laws to discourage computer hackers was nullified
last month when a judge in Miami ruled that an e-mail virus launched by a Broward County
man didn't do
enough damage to rate as a federal crime.
- Aussie worm hits Europe - A new worm emerging from Australia has
put antivirus companies and IT managers on red alert. 'Mylife' is a mass-mailing virus
with a destructive payload that sends itself to everyone in the recipient's Windows
address book. This worm usually arrives as an email attachment named 'My Life.scr'," warned antivirus
experts F-Secure.
- Could digital pen kill off keyboards? - The data-entry VPen--a
stylus with a tiny optical laser at its point--writes on a variety of surfaces, from
computer screens to human skin. It could replace the century-old keyboard.
- Cell phone learns to lip-read - Engineers at NTT DoCoMo have
developed a prototype and hope to have a lip-reading cell phone
available in about five years.
- SONY CD crashing computers Celine Dion's latest
release is generating heated discussions on Internet message boards. Epic/Sony released
"A New Day Has Come" embedded with Key2Audio copy protection in Germany and several other European
countries. On the German discussion boards at MacFixit, Mac users claim that the CD will
not eject using normal methods and that the intentional corruption of the disc's session
data could unpredictably affect the drive's firmware.

- GeForce 4 MX440 Reset Bug? - According to darkcrow

- GeForce 4 MX420 to use DDR Memory - According to digitimes, NVIDIA will use DDR memory on all its products because of
the rapidly increasing price of the SDR type. This move should increase performance whilst
keeping the cost the same, hopefully providing a cheapo version of the MX440 that in our

- The Final Battle: P4/2400 vs. Athlon XP 2100+ (2400+) - In the
last "AMD vs. Intel" comparison,
the Athlon XP 2100+ took the leading position by a nose, but now, the Pentium 4/2400 easily
overtakes its arch rival. Meanwhile, you should keep in mind that that the P4 has a
666 MHz core clock advantage over the Athlon XP.
