- STM Says Good Bye - STMicroelectronics has announced that it is withdrawing from the PC Graphics
Accelerator IC market and is currently seeking a buyer for the related assets and
activities of its PC Graphics business, which accounted for approximately $15 million of
ST's $6.36 billion revenues in 2001. The potential sale is in line with ST's objective of
focusing its R&D efforts on market areas that are strategically important to the
Company, notably: communications, automotive, computer peripherals, smart cards and
digital consumer. In the digital consumer market, ST will continue to emphasize set-top
box, DVD and digital TV applications, in which the Company holds worldwide leadership
positions.
- Sony fights against PS2 mod chips - Sony wants the use
of modification chips for the PlayStation2 stopped in Australia, but a government agency has stepped in. It's a challenge to regional coding
for DVDs too.
- Airport security in a blink - London's Heathrow airport launched the
five-month scheme on Friday at terminals from where British Airways and Virgin
Atlantic operate transatlantic routes. The automated iris recognition stations have been
placed in the immigration halls of Terminals Three and Four at Heathrow.

- Win2k Security Patch: Interix Patch For Telnet Bulletin -
Microsoft has released a patch that resolves the "Unchecked Buffer in Telnet Server Can
Lead to Arbitrary Code Execution"" security vulnerability in Windows 2000 and
Interix 2.2, and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-004.
- WinXP Patch: Dynamic Update 1.2 - This update provides a solution for corporate administrators who
download Dynamic Update, and is discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article
Q314582. Corporate administrators can download Dynamic Update 1.2 to a network
installation share, so users can install Windows XP with the updates included in Dynamic
Update 1.2.
- Microsoft Network Security Hotfix Checker 3.32 - HFNetChk is a command-line tool that enables an administrator to check
the patch status of Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP machines. HFNetChk can be
run from Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP systems, and will scan either the
local system or remote ones for patches available for the following products: Windows NT
