MS Denies Gears of War for PC - briefly

With all the Gears of War for PC speculation flying about, Microsoft's PR department has finally come out to shoot down the rumors:
Here's what happened: These images were created using draft templates for the Games for Windows box art and a variety of Microsoft Game Studios cover images. Gears of War was accidentally included by the artist as one of the MGS titles used as examples to show what our retail setup would look like. This DOES NOT indicate a confirmation that Gears of Wars will be a Games for Windows title -- it was a concept image created by a concept artist, nothing more. In fact, if you look closely you’ll also see that Age of Empires III and Rise of Legends are also branded Games for Windows, and this is not actually the case (Age of Empires III: The Warchiefs is a Games for Windows branded game, but not the original Age III).

We created this image around the E3 timeframe when we were first preparing to announce and show our Games for Windows retail efforts. Shortly after the insanity that is E3, we noticed the box art, and the image was supposed to be removed from circulation. When we provided the package of art assets to PC Gamer for their cover story, we zipped up a directory of our already-public E3 assets as well as more current images (many of which PC Gamer did not use). Unfortunately, we didn't realize that this image was in that directory, and it just happens to be the one that PC Gamer figured prominently in their story. Our bad.
Apparently GoW is going to be Microsoft's "Halo" (aka a system seller) for the next year, until Halo 3 comes out. Don't expect to see any announcements about a PC version before then. Microsoft wants to sell 360's.

In related news, Microsoft announced today that Epic's Gears of War sold 1 million copies worldwide in only two weeks, making it the fastest selling Xbox 360 title to date.

Hahaha, I don't think it's just about selling it on Xbox only. PC can't do it well enough for most, period. It's just not worth it by any angle. There are only so many idiots that will throw a million bucks at their PC to play 'a' game. Common sense would be that if you want to play it, here's your chance to get that Xbox 360. I'd do the same, it makes business sense. PC Gamer sucks and especially that idiot Greg they got running things, since he took over I couldn't care less about his magazine. All his hardware guides blew and were inaccurate and probably fucked more people up than they were worth. I remember one article he had pictures and didn't even show the cap properly on the drive or he was holding the hardware improperly. It doesn't surprise me at all that they didn't even check with MS before printing some story inacurrate story. it's anything to sell a magazine and all they have to do is yammer on they left files on the CD, how were they supposed to know...I buy better magazines than that garbage. I can get better reviews and faster stories on the internet from more reliable sites. Just like GG Mania... 8)
