- IE Workarounds For Zero-Day Exploit - Microsoft has offered
a number of workaround in its advisory to further mitigate risk. In
related news, Liston, however, warned that
once the "killbit" is set to prevent the use of Msdds.dll as an ActiveX,
all applications that use the COM object utility will break.
- Microsoft UPnP MS05-039 Vulnerability Detection Utility -
MS05-039 Scan 1.0 is a Windows based detection and analysis utility that
can quickly and accurately identify Microsoft operating systems that are

- Google Prepares to Take On Microsoft on the Desktop - Google
on Monday launched
a beta version of the forthcoming upgrade of its desktop search tool, and
on Wednesday the company is expected to unveil a "communications tool" that is
said to be a step beyond the company's current search-related business focus.
- Apple Demands French Web Site Remove OS X on Intel Videos - It has
confirmed by eWEEK that
Apple sent a letter to the French Web site MacBidouille asking the site's
owners to remove posted videos and torrent files for the videos. These videos
showed a version of Mac OS X for Intel running on generic PCs, rather than on
the Intel-based developer kits Apple made available to developers for a fee.
- MSDN users to get early access to Visual Studio 2005 tools -
Subscribers to MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network)
will get early access to the general availability releases of the Visual
Studio 2005 developer toolset and SQL Server 2005 database.

2005: ATi - Multi Graphics -
Hexus.net has posted their IDF coverage with word from San Francisco on
ATI's multi graphics solution.
- AMD adds faster 25W Turions -
AMD has added Turion 64 MT-37 and MT-40 processors to its mobile lineup.
The MT-37 clocks in at 2.0GHz and will sell for $268 in 1,000-unit quantities,
while the MT-40 runs at 2.2GHz and has a $359 price tag.
