GOG has issued a strong statement reaffirming true digital ownership after Sony announced the end of physical discs for new PlayStation games starting in 2028.

The company declared that even if a game is removed from their storefront, it will never leave a user’s library.

This policy allows players to keep and play purchased games indefinitely, with offline installers and no DRM restrictions.

GOG emphasized that this is exactly how digital ownership should work, contrasting with many other platforms that can revoke access.

The announcement comes at a time when the industry is shifting heavily toward digital-only distribution.

Yep, this is why I love gog.com. I don't care about online features missing, I prefer owning my games. No other like it.
