- Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 Free Booster Pack - Tripwire
interactive announces
the promised free Booster Pack for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 is now
available via Steam. As a quick recap, the Booster Pack includes one full new
map (Lyes Krovy), smoke grenades and changes to the tank reloading system and
map victory conditions. Previous free updates have included new weapons and
many other player-suggested tweaks to the game. If you still haven't had the
opportunity to try it out (either as a standalone game or as the mod), a free
trial is available on Steam from August 2nd to the 7th. You can also check out

- Distant Guns Demo/Trial - Storm Eagle Studios sends along
the playable demo for Distant Guns, allowing the chance to try out their
just-completed, historical 3D naval combat simulation. The sample of Storm
Eagle's recently completed naval combat game can be played 30 times over a 30
day period, after which you can pony up for the full version, or go back to
the drudgery that is life without Distant Guns.

Double Agent Delayed -
GameSpot
reports that the Arkane Studios developed fantasy action game has indeed
been delayed from a late September release to mid-October. They also report
that their planned release of a PC port of Resident Evil 4 has apparently been
delayed indefiniately with no word as to what happened to the game. Also, Tom
Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent is now scheduled for the end of October
2006.
- Theater Of War (previously known as WWII RTS) Finally To Be Released -
The game's offical website has already launched with a boatload of
screenshots (most of which are reproduced here), an in-game trailer and more
info about Theater Of War. The game is scheduled to be released in late 2006
via electronic download or mail order.
- THQ Cancels Xbox 360 Version Of Sopranos Game - During THQ's
conference call following their financial results, company execs revealed that
the publisher has cancelled plans to release an Xbox 360 version of their
upcoming game based on the HBO crime series The Sopranos. The previously
announced PS2 version of the game will ship as scheduled this fall.
- PS3 In A 'Better Place' For Launch Than Xbox360 Say Mark Rein -
According to a Eurogamer TV interview, Epic's Mark Rein claims that the
Playstation 3 is in a better place for its launch than Xbox360 was at the same
time in it's lifespan. The interview primarily covers general industry related
topics, as opposed to it being entirely focused on UT2007 or GoW. Topics
include DirectX, Playstation 3, and Microsoft and Intel's roles in gaming.
