A viral X post has revealed a counterfeit 2TB SATA SSD branded "WeEsteon BLUE" that mimics Western Digital products but contains only a cheap SATA-to-MicroSD adapter board and a MicroSD card instead of proper NAND flash memory.
The device was disassembled to show the adapter circuit with a visible MicroSD slot, highlighting deceptive labeling and assembly tactics used in budget storage scams. Such fakes often deliver the advertised capacity but suffer from extremely slow speeds and reliability issues, posing data risks for buyers seeking cheap deals on platforms like Temu or eBay.Consumers are urged to purchase storage from reputable sellers and verify drives with tools like H2testw or CrystalDiskInfo
