With today’s release of the
DivX for Gamecube
Software Development Kit (SDK), Nintendo Gamecube developers can now
easily create highly compressed DVD-quality DivX video cinematics and
seamlessly integrate high performance playback into Gamecube games. DivX for
Gamecube was developed by Factor 5, the software development house and
Nintendo technology partner behind the multimillion selling "Star Wars: Rogue
Squadron" game franchise and the MusyX sound tools for multiple game
platforms, and DivXNetworks, Inc., the company that created the revolutionary
patent-pending DivX video compression technology.
- "Opasoft" Causes The Second Virus Epidemic This Week - Kaspersky
Labs announces the emergence of already
the
second virus epidemic this week. This time, the multi-component program
"Opasoft" combines the characteristics of a network worm and a Trojan program
designed to gain unauthorized remote control of infected computers. At this
time the Kaspersky Labs round-the-clock technical support service has received
confirmed reports of "Opasoft" infections in Russia, France, Germany, the UK,
Korea among other countries with the amount of events on the increase.
- Bugbear virus targets Internet Explorer - Known as
W32.Bugbear or I-Worm.Tanatos, the mass-mailing computer virus started
infecting computers via e-mail on Sunday. On Tuesday, it accounted for nearly
11,000 infected e-mail messages intercepted by e-mail service provider
MessageLabs' gateway servers. That placed it second to Klez.h, which accounted
for about 14,000 e-mail messages.
- Samsung, Mitsubishi to jointly develop camera CMOS image sensors -
Samsung Electronics and Mitsubishi Electric have agreed to jointly
develop camera chips for use in mobile phones, personal organizers and
mobile PCs, reported the Electronics Times of South Korea.
- Nvidia Officially Announces nForce 2 Production - NVIDIA
Corporation today announced
that its second-generation Nvidia nForce platform processors--nForce2--are
now in production.
- On AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 333 FSB, nForce2 and VIA - Nvidia has
confirmed that the nForce 2 graphics chipset is in production, timing the
announcement to coincide with today's big CPU launch, the AMD Athlon XP 2800+
with the 333 frontside bus (FSB). A data throughput improvement of "up to 25
per cent" is promised by AMD for its new CPU. nForce 2-powered mobos should be
heading their way in to retail by the end of this month. VIA today also
issued a press release pointing out that it already has two chipsets, the VIA
Apollo KT400 and VIA Apollo KT333, which support AMD's 333 FSB. So it can
provide an upgrade path for gamers who want to install a new 333FSB Athlon -
so long as they have the right board of course.
