- Gamers snub Microsoft's Xbox - Microsoft's Xbox has so far failed to capture the hearts and
minds of the gaming community. According to The Independent newspaper, analysts
are reporting that the software giant has been seeing poor sales in Japan, Europe and the
US, coming a clear second to Sony's PlayStation 2. Sales have been so poor that Microsoft
may be forced to slash the £299 price tag, which is over £100 more expensive than Sony's
device.
- Security Flaw Opens Ebay Accounts To Hijack - Officials at Ebay
today said they had no
immediate plans to repair a security flaw in the password system at the online auction
site that could give criminals the ability to steal users' accounts. The vulnerability
enables attackers to easily change the password of nearly any Ebay user, as long as the
attacker knows the victim's user ID, according to a Canadian security expert who
discovered the flaw and reported it to the company last week.
- New antivirus software plugs worm holes - The new program,
called ThreatScan,
is intended to add a proactive tool to the defensive technology now used by system
administrators to protect their networks. Current antivirus software scans for malicious
code on potentially infected computers or in e-mail attachments, waiting until a virus or
worm has already attacked a system to react to its presence.
- anti-Unix site runs Unix - A Web site - "We have the way out" - sponsored by Microsoft and Unisys as a way to steer big companies away
from the Unix operating system is itself powered by Unix software. Representatives at

- P4 "Northwood" 2.4 Ghz chip Review - The main difference
between the Northwood core and the previous P4 core, Willamette, is that now Northwood
is built with 0.13µ (micron) production technology and has 512 KB L2 Cache. Moreover the
copper material enables the use of thinner wires compared to the aluminum used in
Willamette. (To help you get a better idea of the size, say that, hair has 60µ diameter).
Willamette was using 0.18µ technology and had 256 KB L2 cache. Moreover, it offered
frequency cores within 1.3 GHz to 2.0 GHz. range and had two models either using PGA423 or
mPGA478. (You can also check some other review at Tweak3D, VR-Zone, Hardcoreware,
HotHardware,

- ATI Radeon 8500 Review - The
Radeon 8500 is a dual head card, this means it supports another device as an extra
output in windows. Good implementation of this feature by using two DACs (Digital to
Analogue Converter) means two different refreshes can be supported like 50hz for a PAL
television and 85Hz for your monitor.
