Edge Online analyzed a transcript of EA's yesterday post-earnings conference call with investors the call put together by Seeking Alpha and found that : "In fiscal 2011, every one of EA's releases will have an online component, both downloadable content and online play, and don’t forget that we have a full roster of titles coming from our online subscription site, pogo.com, from our mobile and iPhone group, and of course, our social gaming team, Playfish,..." OMG. Why in the name of all that is good and holy, would anything require online? Shits sakes, Mass Effect 2 has DLC but is it necessary that it be through the 'Cerberus Network'? No! There's no multiplayer, there's no chat program, there's no POINT!

They haven't got a game that I give a damn about anymore, and even the ones they could bring back I personally once would have been excited to see make a come back or done better, would be a wasted effort with EA, same poorly developed shit aimed at the lowest possible gaming audience of noob gamers who will accept any shit with the product life span of a rotting corpse because they're quite happy to buy the next piece of scrap shit around the corner.

The innovation, customization, richness and community development etc or even support and encouragement of such a thing is like some sort of after thought, while they get to work on pumping out that next half assed developed cheese.. profit, drm locked down game files, account profiles, market place, advertising, profit, drm account profiles, profit, drm ...screw em and their share holders.

tbh I just feel sorry for the artists behind such games, they seem to be the only ones that can do a decent job in general, while the rest of the games project direction and those involved in directing, shaping and programming it just can't help but fuck up in all of the games design from multiplayer, options, interaction, design etc and I can't help but blame the consoletard market for allowing it tbh, while I guess they'll carry on blaming piracy because not everyone is going to fall in a line and buy up the scrap they want to put out.

Bioshock on-line authentication? Hacked. Pirated WoW servers? Check. Everything can be reverse engineered. Again, as much as EA sucks in general, I feel sorry for their customers.

Holy crap cry a little more you little babies. I don't care if it or anything has online as long as I'm not 'required' to pay to use it. I'm not paranoid if securom or anything else sends information about my PC, usually all the time there is a disclaimer stating that no personal or confidential information is taken. I never keep anything confidential on my PC anyhow. That's just stupid. Both of you should just exit gaming and go back to what you are good at. Knitting.

Tom, you obviously never leave your home since you post assumes that internet is omnipotent and present everywhere. It is not. Due to power outages it might not even be available where you have it now. And if you decide to play something like this EA crap requires, you will not be able to.

Besides, it's not about "few games" requiring that, it is the principle of the thing. If I buy a car I don't want to be forced to be connected to manufacturers server every time I turn it on.
But I guess you would be ok with that too. Ignorance is bliss.
Stick you head in the sand everything is suddenly FINE! :)

PS. I have a filling that you are still not earning the money you spend on "stuff". You know, it is VERY easy to spend what you don't work for. I am not giving my hard earned money on "stuff" that has "we are corporate bastards and egoistic control freaks" written all over them. (this includes Apple products)

it is ignorance and complacency to just accept the direction things are going in, its made out to be wonderful and offer loads of great things gamers should want. There is no reason those things can't be optional opt in features, instead for publishers and developers own greedy interests things are not being done that way at all. "we are corporate bastards and egoistic control freaks" yeh

you're a supporting the very infrastructure that will kill off your freedoms and control to do what you want to do. When you buy a game you're investing in the game and the companies behind it. Adding services that are more about controlling the market and you as customer is just wrong and sly.

we've already seen how they've gotten into making people buy games that are locked in, their is no consumer comeback, their is no resale value. You have to be completely ignorant to not see where all this is going and what you're giving up by supporting such systems.

It doesn't also bode well for innovation and all that stems from that when everything is just in lock down, and your choices are limited by the very fact the entire market has been gobbled up and destroyed giants controlling the whole fucking thing that even indie developers have to resort to going to them and giving them the cut to grow bigger. Just look how Valve used its popular game mods (all the of them were original homebrew games!) to bring about the steaming shit platform. Where are the decent homebrew games and mods nowadays. This direction is not good at all.

.. Win7 is waste of multicore cpu, its a waste of good pc hardware altogether from sound processing to gpu wastage.. heck its a fucking waste battery life aswel. It's a waste of mouse movement. It's waste on my eyes looking at utter shit designed by morons for morons like yourself.

XP64 still does more than a better job, and its explorer shell isn't the complete ballz up that vis7a did with it, where there are no decent shell extensions to improve it, and although these videos show a plain looking XP, its customization is still far far far better than scrappy looking Aero crap delivered in Win7.

Just nothing of an improvement on offer to anyone with a brain to just go out and install and customize some far better addons, apps and extensions that do a far better job at improving the aesthetics, control and productive workflow of XP, than the crippled regurgitated vista shit Microsuck spewed out and called win7.

Talking to Koogle, (and I know I was reading this site for years) is like talking to a concrete wall. He believes he knows everything but in reality he's just a dumb asswipe who has no life and sits here and posts and just waits for people to yap back at him. He's the official Game Guru troll. Stumpus is the other one, but he waits instead to flame anything and everything Microsoft. Something tells me he applied at Microsoft as a janitor and got turned down. Or maybe Bill Gates sexually harassed him. I don't know.

As for software or online activation. Boo hoo. We are not talking about cars we are talking games that are now inundated with the ability to download more than what came in the box. I play on console so I am used to DLC and I've bought quite a few addons. It's no big surpise that PC is going the same way. Online activations, who cares? It's better than Starforce and crap. Depending on who it is, I am alright with it. Blizzard, I just hate them so I will never buy anything from them regardless. I wont every pay2play but I am open to DLC and internet activation. It just makes sense. If you don't have internet in your area, oh well, you are like .001% of people. Sucks to be you.

Koogle is correct. Besides, any serious gamer knows you won't have to expect a game worth buying from these moneysick bastards anyway.
They have about 7 game programmers who just polish up some bugs and design a new case cover, all the rest is marketing, trying to kill concurrency and irritate their stupid customerbase.

It's a shame playing a game seems like sooooo much fun according to their Sims' reactions......

You forget, EA gobbles up studios. I hate the practice, but hate as I do, they still own DICE, the creators of the Battlefield series (1942, 2, 2142, 1943, bad company 1/2, bf 3 etc...) These games are very popular and have a massive online following. Dismissing EA as a no name publisher is pretty much disregarding the fact they own many good developers. I wish the devs stayed a seperate entity, but , that's the way it goes in big business.
